Children's Imodium AD Or Pepto-Bismol

Diarrhea is unpleasant and embarrassing for children; it can also cause severe dehydration or signal other health problems. Treatment is fairly straightforward, though ' just follow these instructions and give your child lots of extra hugs, too.
Instructions
STEP 1: Try to determine the cause of the diarrhea. Could your child have food poisoning or stomach flu? Could he be reacting to a new food in his diet? STEP 2: Act quickly to prevent dehydration. If your child is a breast-fed baby or toddler, nurse him as often as possible and remove all other foods from his diet for a few hours. STEP 3: Offer an oral electrolyte solution to prevent dehydration for an older child or non-nursing baby or toddler, and avoid other foods for a few hours. STEP 4: Offer your child an over-the-counter anti-diarrheal medication if necessary. Ask the doctor or pharmacist about medications that are safe to give your child. STEP 5: Give your child something to eat about eight hours after you begin treatment. Stick to bland foods until he's feeling better. Tips & Warnings
Electrolyte solutions can easily be made into ice chips or Popsicles for children to suck on. This is often an easier way to get the liquid inside your child than simply asking him to drink large quantities of it.
If there is blood in your child's diarrhea, or if he seems severely dehydrated, call the doctor immediately.
If your child's diarrhea lasts for more than a day or two, call the doctor and find out if you should bring him in to be checked over.
Keep your child home from day care, preschool, or school until he's feeling better, especially if you suspect he may be contagious.

I am not sure what you can do to stop the diarehhea. Some diarehhea is not bad because the body is just trying to cleanse itself but if it presists for longer than 1 or 2 weeks you may want to see a doctor. One thing you can do is to make sure they get plenty of water fiber and some kind of pedialyte to help keep him hydrated. I found this webs site called shopdonato.com that sell premium baby medicines so you may be able to find something there. Good luck and hope you baby gets better soon.

when I was a child, all my parents did was give me plenty of liquid. nothing too sugary like Sunny D or soda because that sugar makes diarehhea worse. The best bet is the healthier sports drinks and water. If the diarehhea gets worse within 3 days, I'd say go to the doctors, they'd perscribe some medicine.

in the meantime, try to find out if your child had some spoiled food recently. That food may have caused somach flu. The diarehhea may be caused by some sickness.

Diarehea is usually caused by diet. Try giving your child some pedialyte or gatorade. Sometimes the poweade water works good too. Offer starches...like rice to help bind the child up a little. There is also some childrens pepto bismol out there too depending on how the child in question is. Good luck and i hope the child feels better.

Definitely hydrating with pedialyte or an off brand version of pedialyte. It's probably the flu bug that is going around. I don't know where you are from but here in Nevada the hospital covered by your insurance plan or Medicaid's preferred hospital usually has a pediatric urgent care number that you can call day or night and talk to a nurse who can give you suggestions. Go to yahoo yellow pages and search for Pediatric Urgent Care or go to your hospital websites to see if they have a number listed for pediatric urgent care. Good luck and keep your little one hydrated.

One thing I do, is to keep an eye on what she is eating, foods that make her too regular. Basically, I would give her cheese instead of peaches or grapes. Or I would give her milk instead of apple juice. I try to make sure that I am feeding her a balanced diet. If she is sick, than I use the products to help slow her down and make her feel better. I hope this helps and I hope your baby feels better! Happy Holidays!

Pedialyte, an electrolyte juice, is sold over the counter in the baby aisle at many pharmacies. I work at CVS and it is very highly recommended. If you want to avoid costly medical visits to ask about it, try just stopping by the pharmacy counter at your nearest pharmacy and ask what the pharmacist recommends. They are very knowlegable in over the counter medications as well and can help you at no charge. Good luck, and God bless!

When my children were young their doctor told me of the B.R.A.T. diet to dispel diarrhea. It was suggested to feed my children ~ ~ ~ ~ B...Bananas ~ ~ R...Rice ~ ~ A...Applesauce ~ ~ T...Toast. ~ ~(B.R.A.T.) ~ What these foods do exactly? I don't know...it's just what my kids doctor informed me when they were younger. Also...lots of fluids...I heard that diarrhea is a system that there is not enough fluid in your system. Drink more fluids, especially those with healthy nutrients, then the diarrhea begins to go away. All this diarrhea diet is for both adults as well as children.
