If you are a Christian , would you consider it to be a sin to read a book of another religion (ex -The Satanic Bible) as a result of curiosity. I mean, it's not like you are worshipping the devil or disobeying god, you just want to know about Satanists and what is thier philosophy. I'm just asking this because a lot of Christians seem to be giving false answers about Modern Satanism ,which obviosly means they don't know one thing about it. And if you do know, but just gave a false answer, wouln't that be a sin? Thou shall not lie?

It really depends on the person, but I think a lot of people would say that reading such a book would be placing yourself in line with temptation. But being tempted is not a sin, rather succumbing to temptation is the sin.
I really think more people need to be educated about things if they are going to talk about it. I hate having a conversation with someone who is spouting complete BS at me, and they know that I know better!

I've noticed that the more eagerly some people proclaim the depth of their faith, the more reluctant they are to learn anything about any other religion. If I didn't know better, I'd imagine they were afraid of being seduced by a stronger argument. (It reminds me of the attitude of some Christians toward Halloween, as if the demons and witches they imagine were stronger than the almighty God they profess.) Too many Christians give Satan too much credit for their own fears and inclinations. Apparently the name is enough to scare them.

I find the more I learn about other faiths, the better I understand my own. Even if I don't agree, I gain insight into how other people think. People adopt a faith for many reasons, but not because it's stupid or insane. It makes sense to someone or it wouldn't exist. And If I don't make any attempt to understand others, how can we even talk? (The first step in proselytizing someone is knowing where they are coming from. For those Christians so anxious to save people, I'd think a little curiosity would be a good idea.)

Reading the books of other religions is not a sin, except maybe for those whose faith is already weak, or for those who value loyalty over reason.

No, it is not a sin to read a book of another religion.

If people are giving false answers about something because they are uninformed, they are not lying. What they are doing is speaking from a place of misinformation, but if their heart is true--that is, if they aren't maliciously bearing false witness--then what they're doing is called a mistake, not a lie.

I have heard through the grapevine that modern Satanism is not about worshipping the devil, and I can believe that modern-day Satanists may not engage in worship rituals, ceremonies, practices, or prayers related to the devil. This doesn't change the fact that modern-day Satanists are aligned with God's enemy by their own choosing, in whatever capacity.

Christians should neither judge others or pretend they know what they're talking about when they don't. The reason Christians don't associate with satanic and other occult forms, is simply Christ said not to associate with evil. Ephesians 5:11 says "have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them."

It's not a hard philosophy to understand for a christian, if it's satanic in nature, than there should be no question for a christian: have nothing to do with it. If you are questioned, answer back with truth.

Christianity is not a religon of ignorance. It requires that we study and be experts on Christianity (which so few are) and able to explain and justify and contrast our believes to any curious non-Christians at any time. To further that, it is also widely encourged to be educated about other religions. So yes, not only is it permissible, it is highly encouraged.

Although in modern western culture, most people simply don't take the time to. The majority of Americans never read a book about anything after finishing school for the rest of their lives, much less something as dense as religion. What you're seeing isn't Christianity at work, simply apathy.

its always ok to want to learn. never apologize for it! by reading the satanic bible you are informing yourself. you will know why you chose christianity over santanism beyond a superficial explanation like, "i dont like satan." you will be able to hold your own in a debate with a satanist. knowledge is always good in my opinion. i dont agree with the Dr. Faustus idea that too much knowledge on 'bad' subjects results in you becoming bad in some way. if i read Mein Kampf i will not become a nazi. i will understand what the mans motivations were and perhaps be better prepared to stop a similar man from commiting similar atrocities.

I don't belong to any religion and I don't believe in any religious gibberish, but I think you should not direct the question only to the so called Christians. Fanatics of all religions are not intellectuals, they're not known as peoples who care to walk not even a single step in others religious shoes, it would be wonderful if they could. Just think of all the hates, wars, death and miseries that would've been avoided. About the so called satanic bible, its just one more gibberish. I don't really care what religious gibberish any body decide to believe, that right should be defended at all cost, but what really gets me is the intolerance that fanatics have about others peoples religious gibberish.

not really a "sin" per se, just strictly for information and understanding what another believes in. Kinda like anybody else assuming they "know it all" about "us christians", and give false answers according to their own beliefs, which in turn as stated "they don't know one thing about it", and choose not to even try.
Therefore, all of us need to understand one anothers beliefs and stop assuming we know about each others beliefs, and read up on it so we can all have an intelligent conversation without the mocking and persecution, of each other.

A true Christian would not study satanism as a result of curiosity, anymore than a man would jump from a plane without a parachute as a result of curiosity.

The Holy Bible is referred to as the living Word of God because it's words come to life and plant a seed in the heart of the reader. God says that His word will not return void. Words are very powerful. It would be unwise for a Christian to read the satanic bible because of it's negative influential power. Satan is very real and very influential. Remember his cunning with Eve in the Garden of Eden? We must be careful about what we allow into our hearts and minds. It's no different than food for our bodies- we are what we eat - likewise we are what we absorb through TV, movies and books.

That said, as a Christian I have hear former members of the Satanic church speak about the experience, I have read other doctrines of many different religions. Everything I read, see, hear or feel only leads me back to the truth that Jesus Christ is the ONLY way, truth and life and NO ONE comes unto the Father except through HIM.

Many try to claim that Satanists do not worship Satan. So why do they call themselves SATANists? I call myself a CHRISTian because I worship Christ. The truth is there are only two forces in this world - good and evil - God or Satan. If you choose NOT to go with God you are choosing Satan either by deliberate choice or by default.
