I have never read any information on Pagan customs after death. If anyone has any info or links, I would appreciate it.

Most folks were incinerated on pyres. The idea being that your spirit would 'go on' quicker without lingering to trouble to living or being overly attached to the physical body and hanging around untill it decayed to a certain point. The ancient pagan Egyptians did special things to make the body inhabitable to the ethereal body even after death. Tombs were more like shrines, where food was left for the dead family member. In Northern Europe, the average bloke was usually incinerated while an important cheif might have a mound or cairn built to house his remains.

I'm not sure that there are any, but there may be a few little honouring rituals out there for honouring the dead.

What happens to the body, to most pagans, is irrelevant as after you die, the soul leaves for the Summerlands, and the body is just a shell. Bury me in the back garden for the worms, for all I care!

Burn me on a bonfire, and pretend I am a model of Guy Fawkes!!! Will keep the fire burning all night!
