No. To protect the Shiites from getting annihilated by the Sunnies. It was predicted in the Koran by Prophet himself, as revealed to him.

No the U.S. went into Iraq for many different reasons.

1. To liberate the Iraq people from an evil tyrant.

Saddam was a sick sadistic man. Did you know that during his reign he killed more people than all the people that have been killed in darfur? Don’t forget when the Republic army was toppled people went to the streets in celebration.

2. They did have connections with Al Qaeda and even harbored terrorist.

Despite what many people believe many of the Al Qaeda generals were being protected in Iraq.

3. To make Iraq a democratic government.

If we can make both Afghanistan and Iraq a democratic government it will put enormous pressure on countries like Iran. It will also be a serious blow to the terrorist network and create long term stability in the middle east. Did you know that in Afghanistan a judge tried to put a fellow Afghanistan to death for being a Christian? Did you also know that they were punishing girls for going to school cited that it was against the Koran? Talking about being oppressed.

4. They were violating U.N. sanctions.

In the early nineties we went to war with Iraq. Iraq was using biological weapons against innocent people. The U.S. stopped the terror by Iraq. The U.N. then decided to put sanctions on Iraq. In part of those sanctions Iraq had to allow a U.N. inspector to come and inspect all of their facilities. In 2002 they did not allow full access.

Did you also know that in the late nineties that Saddam refused to allow a U.N. inspector into the country and Bill Clinton bombed Iraq until Saddam agreed.

5. We believed they had weapons of mass destruction.

Perhaps it was bad intelligence, but the government didn't lie to you so they could go over to Iraq and claim their oil. No the fact is we the Nation of the U.S. was attacked not even a year earlier and three thousand people were killed. Saddam would not allow the U.N. inspector full access. Were we really going to take a chance?

The problem is every one has forgotten that we were attacked and a war was waged. The war is not going as well as we expected, but our country did go into Iraq with good intentions. Perhaps we need a new strategy, but it was with good intentions.

What I believe is you are listening to this Secular-Progressive media that makes the U.S. out to be a bad country.

Believe it or not the U.S. is a noble country with good intentions.

Well, it's not the case, and a lot of the people "defending their land" in Iraq are not in their land. Many of them are Syrian, Saudi, Palestinian ... a lot of them are not Iraqis.

Not to mention, these people "defending their land" have killed just about every person who's been killed in Iraq since the invasion -- despite the raging anti-war crowd's efforts to blame all these deaths on Americans.

NO!! Quite the opposite. When you have radical Islamic regimes who support terrorism as the means to spread Islam who want to control the world's oil supply you have a very bad situiation for the free world. Soon they would be the richest countries int he world capable of developing the most advanced and powerful armies and men like the President of Iran make it clear they want to annhilate Israel, other Islamic groups publicly announce their desire to conquer the world in the name of Allah. The nation is still Muslim. Christianization was never the plan, counld't be because of the separation of church and state, our Constitution would not allow the sending of Armies for the purpose of making them Christian. The purpose was to stop crazy people.

the purpose of invading Iraq was to have control over the rich oil of that country but not to make it a christian country. the us imperialists want all countries especially which are rich in resources of nature to make their colonies. other wise they would have invaded more dictatorial countries like Myanmar(Burma).capitalists have no religion their religion is to earn more money and accumulate assets at the cost of the deaths of millions of innocent civilians.

it is more to do with oil. energy and water are the next big things to fight over after territory. already we are having privatisation wars in developing countries by developed nordic countries. bush wants to ensure that the US will forever have low cost oil(black gold) and so wants to capture the lands which are rich in oil mines and they happen to be the islamic ones. this speaks a lot about his attitude
