I brought up a question here recently: why weren't thick locked steel doors not installed in all commercial airliners (between the pilot and the passengers) in the post 9-11 world to ensure that the tragedy of 9-11 never happens again. To my surprise it seems that this *has been used in Israeli airlines* and it to this day has *worked to prevent any hijacking from ever happening*. The reason this was not installed in our country was --->MONEY. In addition, the world trade centers and even a damn memorial have not even been built yet because of money squabbles and many people who live in downtown NYC, including myself, have serious breathing problems as a result of the air quality which our gov't said was fine...How does it feel to know that our government doesn't give a crap about us and is obsessed with blowing hundreds of billions of taxpayer money in Iraq and with creating a police state?

To Tru Warrior: America is not about "if you don't like it move to another country", I'm in the right place YOU arein the wrong place. Back here in America the people have freedom of speech to complain and discuss problems with the government...I think you need to go back to fascist swastika land and take your butthole president with you....Don't let the door hit your a$$ on the way out.

To Kevin K: Mandatory upgrades in transportation services for the protection of Americans does not defy "hands off economics", in fact this is not the socialism vs. capitalism debate that you are sooo salivating for it to be with every word you type. This is a debate about safety. When the government forced all cars to have seatbelts we did not all go out and buy the communist manifesto and erect banners to Stalin. The only thing that happened was fewer Americans died.

As for your response that I shouldn't blame the government for saying it was ok to go back to work when there were cancer causing chemicals and dusts floating around in the air...Well, I can't insult you or damage your image anymore than you have damaged it for yourself in making that comment because it is so uneducated and sad it's beyond words...But I'll pass your words of advice over to my friend who has lymphoma and my other friend who has developed asthma.

To josh m: I don't even know what you are talking about...My "conspiracy theory"? What is my "conspiracy theory"? Also, you did not even answer my question, so I guess you don't really have much to say (could it be that you don't think long enough to come up with answers?)...Maybe I should have just ignored your reply.

First off, the government practices hands off economic policy. They are not going to put the steel doors in airplanes because of the cost. Not just in terms of installing the doors, but the lost fuel effeciency and the delays caused by the planes being taken out of service for the modifications.
My only suggestion is to refuse to fly until the airlines you do business with install the doors on all planes voluntairily.

As for he respitory problems, the government obviously did not want to disrupt an entire city. Epecially one as important as New York. What can the government do for you? Is there any cure found to get the stuff out of your lungs? Why should our government pay when it is the fault of the terrorists? Bin Laddin's family should be footing the bills for you and everybody else made sick. At least that will be the response the current administration will hold.

It feels pretty outrageous!

The government is the US is actually run by big business. People who are mega rich see the rest of us a replaceable commodities not as human beings. If a couple of thousand die here and there, well so what, there are always more to replace them.

Someone very smart once said that you get the government you deserve. When you stand back and let others make decisions for you, then you can't complain about those decisions.

Oh they care about Americans. Just not the average citizen. They care about the rich and the very poor. Because there are a lot of poor people they buy their vote. And the rich? well they are rich so just makes sense.
Trust me, as an 18 year veteran of the Air Force, I was thrown out because of illness, and no one helped me. The VA is starting to but I'm finding it an uphill battle. Some gratitude huh?

Safety of air travel and pollution must be given priority for a safe America rather than spending lots of money in Iraq.
