You seem to be operating under a misapprehension.

There is no ban.

Churches display religious symbols, Mosques and Temples and Shrines display religious symbols, the vans for "Christian Cleaning Service" that operate out where I live display religous symbols. People can WEAR religious symbols.Students can have religous symbols on the textbook covers, as far as i know, too. ANYTHING privately-owned can carry religious symbols, subject of course to code restrictions on size, etc.

So what "ban' are you talking about?

Religious symbols cannot be paid for with public funds (taxes). They cannot be on or in buildings supprted by public funds, although there are even some exceptions to that, as I understand.

Why? Well, if you think about it, I'm sure you'll come up with the reason.

Hint: It has to do with the fact that the public is religously diverse.

Is it proper to use the cross as a symbol for Christianty? No. The cross is a pagan symbol that predates Christianity by thousands of years. True Christians do not need a visible symbol in their worship. 2 Cor. 5:7 says that "we are walking by faith, not by sight."

The swastika was once a religious and mystical symbol, but it now has other associations. The cross and the crescent and star are heading in that direction.

This is going on in England and France, right.

It's a very strange situation and I'm not sure about the motivation behind it.

In America we don't, as yet, have this problem.

I think the Dutch are going to have problems in the near future due to their restriction of human rights and freedom of expression. There is no good reason to restrict the freedoms of people.

if they don't impinge upon others ! how would you like it in reverse eg such as nazi swastica's or anti god symbols where is the even playing field . better to restict such things to proper usage. religious people often like to get in your face and foist their unwanted ideas on those who don't appreciate it.

True, but when those symbols become a symbol of hate, then what do we do?.....respect that? I respect not.

Separation of Church and State. Blame the constitution. If you don't like it, vote.
