Blessings. Last Friday, I woke up with my throat burning. Yup, you guessed it. I had a cold. Well, I guess the technical thing to say would be I have a cold. Nonetheless, there is a bug going around work and almost everyone has the same eXact symptoms.

That being said, the neXt day (Saturday), I took a shower and then proceeded to clean my ears. Perhaps I stuck the Q-tip too far in (or maybe not), but one of my ears is plugged. It's been bothering me since Saturday.

I have purchased an Ear WaX Removal kit from CVS, but it doesn't seem to work. Or at least not yet. Maybe I'm just impatient. My question(s) is 1) How do you unplug an ear and 2) How long does it normally take?

The cold is pretty much gone (or so I believe as I'm can actually breathe through my nostrils and my chest doesn't sound like a rattling cage), yet this ear continues to bother me. Any help would be most appreciative. Thanks in advance, peace within, and God bless you, loves.

STRETCH your jaw as if you were yawning. That might help get air into the tube that equalizes the air pressure in the ears.
OR, try alternately blowing nose and swallowing hard.

Chew gum, that helps me when I drive in hilly country or ride on an airplane.

I am just now getting over the same stinker of a cold and my ears will occasionally plug up so it is hard to hear.

Good luck....

Hmm... I hate plugged ears, though sometimes it provides much comfort from naggy mums, hehe.

*ahem* back to the topic:

Since mine is usually from too much water, i.e. after swimming or a shower (DONT ASK HOW A SHOWER GETS ME A PLUGGED EAR- JUST DONT) I'd c.ock my head to the side, which side, depends on the ear. If its the left ear, then c.ock the left ear!

Then I'd put a towel to let it flow out. Note that I'd keep my head ****** and forcefully bent down towards the earth (or, your feet -_-) in order to let gravity do its job :D

It should come out within 5 minutes.

Of course, whatever that's in your ear has to be in liquid form first, so unless you're runing a fever, you should flood your ear gently with warm water FIRST thus it'll melt the wax (I think it's wax) and allow it to seep out.

However, if you've tried this, and it still doesn't work... then you had best consult your doctor. It might be your sinusitis or something medical, unfortunately I'm not well versed in this area. :(

In any case, cheers, and hope that plug is plugged out!

(lol, ok i know, LAME)

Q-tips in the ear are a no-no. Ear drops are more of a prevenitive measure than a cure. I had ears full of wax and went to the doctor. He just flushed them out with warm water and everything was fine. He said I had to much of a build-up for ear drops to be effective.

Tilt your head to the side and yawn while massaging the area around your ear. This should equalize the pressure in your Eustachian tube and relieve the "plugged up" feeling.
