OMG...all this for a boyfriend? How many boyfriends have you had? I suggest you work on securing your self and not make life decisions based on a non-commited relationship. Yes, non-commited. It really doesn't matter how much he says he cares. If you don't have that marriage certificate, it's a bad decision.

The United States Army are stationed around the world but rarely with The United States Navy. There is no formula for any relationship. For Service members who are married and stationed together it can still be very hard and harder for those seperated because of duty. You have to decide rather to be a girlfriend and wait for him or be a girlfriend and join the Army and see what happens

Nope. The Army & Navy have never gotten along. If you want to join then do it. Don't give up your dreams for the sake of a relationship that may not work out. You'll regret it eventually and will always wonder "What if". On a different track... Any person in the military needs the support of their spouse and vice versa. A military spouse endures a lot more than any in civilian life just by the nature of their other halves job. It's a very different life than anything in civilian life. In some ways it's not so good but in many others its way better. I know. I grew up in it.

It would be a nearly impossible relationship. I was married to a Navy guy, I wasn't in the Army but it was impossible just with him being in. If I had been enlisted to we wouldn't have made it 6 days.

It would not work. Your boyfriend would be at sea for six months out of the year, while you would most likely be in Iraq or Afghanistan for that entire year. In addition, you would not be able to get housing together as there are no joint Army-Navy bases.
In addition, your unit would most likely harass you about being married to a squid.

It would be a huge amount of work to keep the relationship alive and would very likely fall apart.
You would both have time restricitons based on deployment or such and not seeing each other, being in a totally different enviornment and so on would likely break the relationship.

Both of you can join any branch of service as long as your area assignments are the same just like being detailed together for the war in Iraq or coming soon - in Iran or North Korea.

Hard work but you sound young and maybe the one who ur intended to marry will be in the army after all. Don't limit your life opportunities for him. If he loves you he will support you.
