I know this seems untrue... but I had a personal trainer once tell me that the best way to trim inches off your hips/thighs/stomach is to work your upper body (since you can't "target" weight loss on specific parts of your body). Essentially, it was explained to me that increasing muscle mass in your arms/upper body, combined with lunges/lower body weight resistance will yield the best total slimming results, since you're building more overall muscle.
