Alize is a Cognac based liqueuer originally made with the addition of Passion fruit to a Cognac base- currently I believe there are new flavours using seville oranges and other fruit infusions all on the cognac base--it is one of the better fruit brandies

I have never heard of Alize but, Cognac is a variety of Brandy and is not a liqueur which is a sweet drink.

Cognac and Armagnac are varieties of Brandy, the name comes from the French region from where it originates, but it's all brandy.
