I am organising a 21st birthday dinner for my brother with family and friends and I would like to know which is the best wine to drink to?

During the summer whites tend to be drunk more frequently, even though I still lightly chill a red during the summer season. When it's cold Red seems to be the most popular. If your getting wine for everyone, I'd get a variety of the two, parties seem to have a mix of both red and white drinkers. If you are serving food, try and pair the wine with the food. Proper wine lovers will appreciate the lack of their preference for a wine that goes better with the meal.
Don't hassle too much about the wine, at 21 you don't care what color it is, you care that you can drink it with out repercussions.

I would recommend a good Champagne from France like Philippe Gonet Blancs de Blanc. I was just there in September doing the harvest with them in Le Mesnil sur Oger. They make great Champagne! Seven generations of the Gonet family have been doing it so they have had a lot of practice. Champagne is also very fun to open. Moreover, Champagne pairs well with most any food except chocolate. It is great with oysters, shrimp, lobster, chicken and more. Happy Birthday! Enjoy! {:-)

The color of the wine depends on what you are eating if it is a dinner situation....
If you are not eating it is just taste preference.

Why restrict yourselves to just one? Have both available for some variety.
