The judge issues a bench warrant requiring that you be brought before his/her bench when you fail to appear for a court date. If the original court appearance that the person failed to appear for that resulted in the bench warrant, was for a fine-only offense then the judge will assess the fine and probably add an additional penalty for the failure to appear and if you can pay that amount at court you will be free to go. However, if the original court appearance was for an offense that included incarceration then I would get an attorney before exercising the bench warrant to discuss your defense and plea.

to take care of a bench warrent a fine is to be paid. however, there may be mandatory jail time if the judge gets pissed off about you not showing up the first time. and an appearance is a MUST. it's not an option. then a sentence is issued. (hope this person isn't on probation as this is also a probation violation) so when you show up to court and surrender yourself, be prepared to get hauled off or have a really REALLY good excuse such as you were dead.

Go to the local court that has jurisdiction on the warrant. be there at about 830 in the morning and tell them you want to turn yourself in on the warrant. They will send you to a court room and you can usually turn and walk back out once your done. They will give you a court date to come back.

Normally you are going to have to appear, go in, for minor things, like unpaid tickets and the such, normally if you pay the fines they will not hold you.

There are of course some judges that want to teach people a lesson for not appearing and do hold everyone over.

Depends on what it's for. Traffic tickets, you probably can, a murder charge, well, you probably won't get to. Bite the "bullet" and go to the judge and get it fixed, BEFORE they get you.
