first u should make sure he is taking his medication properly. the medications usually work to keep the symptoms at bay, but he may need an increase. some doctors give a needle for schizophrenic people, once or twice a month, then u don't have to worry about him taking his medications. some times the needle is a more effective way of treatment. a support group for yourself would be helpfull he needs to see the doctor, and before you go, fill in the doctor or nurse that he is not doing well at home so they can treat him better other things that can help him may be if u have for him to go to a mental health agency that offers programs to keep your son occupied, but that would be difficult if he is preoccupied with his delusions. if he gets better an agency like that can perhaps give him the skills to be more independent and learn to live on his own, or in a co op setting. that would be more healthy for him and for you. if he becomes a danger to self or others he may leave u no choice but to see a justice of the peace or call the police , which is probably difficult for you to do hope this helps i know it is hard for you good luck.

I suggest you find a support group.
You need help understanding your son or you will be a mess too.
This is not all that different from someone with an alcohol or drug problem in that the family members illness will eventually take a toll on you.
I don't know if tough love will help here, I have no experience with this but I do have experience in other areas to know that you need help to deal with your son. If there are no support groups in your area find a minister to talk to and tell him/her that you need to get help from someone who knows how to handle this. It need not be an expensive psychiatrist, perhaps there are other parents like you with a schizophrenic child who can help you. Maybe there is a need for a support group and the parents you contact will agree to start one.
Your sons illness can be treated with proper medications. Russell Crowe did a movie about someone with a similar problem. Maybe viewing it will help you in the meantime. The title is, "A Beautiful Mind."
I sure hope this helps you get through your difficult time.

I suffered from paranoid delusions and hallucinations soon after my child was born. I didn't tell anyone until one day I had a seizure and they brought me to the hospital, once I was on all kinds of meds I ended up spilling it all out.
For your sons sake (health and safety) you should bring him to a doctor or call the police (I know that the police sounds mean, but they won't put him in jail, they will hospitalize him and put him on meds) He may be angry at first, and it may upset you, but it's better in the end.
My aunt is a schizophenic and was always trying to burn down the house and kill my mother and grandmother. Something needs to happen now before it gets worse.
Immediate intervention means that you have a more likely chance to recover, or at least be treated better.

Keeping him medicated will be the only way to accomplish this. For patients like your son, long acting depo injections are an option. They help patients become compliant by not giving them the option of focusing their delusions on the medication itself. I agree that support groups would be great for you, but unless you can detach your emotional feeling from your son when he has an outburst, keeping him on his medication is your only real choice.

I agree with Melton that's excellent advice. Schizophrenics NEED to be on medication, they can't function without it. I hope things work out for your son - it sounds like you're a very caring and supportive mother. Good luck to you both.

He needs medication. Hope he does not go on a rampage and hurt someone. It is possible he can do great harm to you, himself or some innocent person.
I would contact social services and see if you can have him put in a home where he can receive treatment

Tell him you trust him but you think some one is tapping into his thoughts so you want him to meet your friend who is a double agent to make sure they aren't tapping into his thoughts.
