This is sort of a repost on Yahoo! Answers, but nvm, i'll solve it for 2 points, or 10 if you r willing to give me. here goes:
I'm a Pearl.
I live in the water, If u cut my "head" (ie the 'P' in Pearl) then i'm Earl, a man who could be at your door. If you cut off my tail (the 'L' in PearL) you'll have a "Pear," a fruit.
If you cut off both, then you have "ear" which is always with you (on your head).
