My sis just moved in w/ me & a co-worker of mine (cuz I asked if she ever needs a sitter & apparently she said yes...sometimes) asked what her rates are. She also asked bout if she'd spend the night or not. What do you think of the following rates:
1) $3.00/hr (even after 12 hrs of babysitting)
2) $30.00 for 12 hrs (spending the night) + $5 for each add'l hr.
Oh, this is CDN currency btw. Check out this link for a currency converter: http://www.xe.com/ucc/ I was thinking that maybe she could charge $40 or $50 but then I realized just how ridiculous that'd be.
These are just rates that I came up w/ cuz I think that $20 would be way too cheap to charge for spending the night. I sometimes got $20 for only like 6 hrs, easy money cuz da kid would go to bed 3 hrs later. This person liked to go out & drink @ 7 & be back @ like midnight or 1ish if not later. It was a few yrs ago so I don't quite know how much I was babysitting for. If you don't agree, what's a good rate ?

Some peeps just can't read properly I said co-worker !!!!!
Well where I live, da pop is only 10 300 or something like dat. Big town/small city. It's only a 7 yr old girl. Another co-worker needs a sitter & I was supposed to watch her 5/6 yr old girl but it never happened. I intro'd my sis to that co-worker a couple of days ago. She just moved in w/ me on Mon actually. She's gonna go home on wk'ds but she wants to go home this wk'd fo sho. If she was asked to spend the night on Fri she said she would. I was just wondering if I should mention these rates to her... When I was younger I wanted to charge $2.50/hr but no one really cared bout how much I wanted ... :s (N) :( So I never really got it. Another co-worker said she sometimes needs a sitter too but she has twin boys 2.5 yrs old & a 4 yr old girl. She asked if she took the babysitting course but she didn't unfortunately :( Guess she's gonna have to find out when that is so she can have someone else to babysit for. I live in MB.

Since she'd be babysitting a 7 yr old overnight, what do you think would be a good rate ? Cuz she's not gonna be having to give her a bottle or anything like that :s She's just there just in case.... That's what parents are for right ? :s So she prob wouldn't get $30/night ? Think that's still too expensive ? :( Even tho some pay $20/2 hrs ? (depends on the person who needs a sitter tho) If the person has the $ do you think it's ok to charge that much ? But not cuz they can afford to but cuz you might not feel comfortable sleeping @ their place, let alone possibly having difficulty sleeping ? :s

I always heard that it was like 3 dollars an hour plus like 2 dollars per hour per child. So One child overnight for like 10 hours would be 50 bucks. That is fair i suppose (USD)

when i babysat, a few yrs ago, i charged, about $1.50 a child per hr. i'm currently babysitting my cousins son, now during the summer, from 7am to 430 pm and am still charging $1.50, but i'm in WI people might charge more or less where you are idk. i wouldnt go anymore than $3 though an hour. because even with $3/hr. your making right around $27( i didnt add the half hour in there). and if you would it would be 1.50 so it would be $28.50. which is pretty good. i wouldnt pay anyone $8-10, people make that much an hour working at a business. although if you brought your own food to eat i would probably pay a littl more than 3. but those are thing you would have to figure out. just dont take advantage of the couple just becuase they have a higher income. try to be reasonable, and if your not sure ask you mom what she would pay you (if you werent her kid) and babysitting your siblings (if you have any). hope this helps. good luck ( I baby sat my cousins younger son ,who is now 1 yr old, and he was quite a handfull. getting into everything.) ;) have fun!

$3.00 and hour per child is the going rate.IT's reasonable. If you stay alnight just charge your 3hr through the night and then add on a fee for overnight such as $10-$15.Make check out at a specific time such as 8-9am and then add on the $5 for each additional hour over.Thats how you do it! Good luck!

i get $8.00 an hour it adds up in the end when they need you to babysit for like 10 hours. it all depends on where you live tho. i once babysat a lady that paid me 15 and hour but they were rich. and other i only charged 5 cause they could afford it. it jsut depends on how many kids too. if they have 3 kids then its $5 a kid and hour, or if the kid has ADD then i charge 9 an hour per kid. it depends on the circumstances

I think it really depends on many things. For instance My teenagers take into consideration the family and what they can afford. It ranges from 3.00 an hour all the way to 10.00 an hour per child.

I only got paid $6/hr (U.S.) when I used to babysit but I never realized I had those kids lives in my hands! Parents need to pay more! Seriously, I'd pay somebody $50/hr if I really trusted them to make sure the kids were safe at home not choking on toys or burning the place down. Good luck convincing anybody to pay you that but don't let your sis short-change herself.

She's your sister? I would never charge my sister to watch my nieces and nephew. It's not right. They are part yours.
