i wouldnt say a watch, because a man with a good taste usually wears pretty expensive watches

Get him a classical book. A bottle of wine, and a pipe if he's inclined towards tobacco. There's nothing wrong with smoking a pipe; it's as safe as an enjoyment can be. Nothing is better than sitting back with one's pipe and a good book, and a glass of wine, talking to a good woman.

During Christmas, the most important gift will be a turkey treat. Why dont you cook and dine with him during Chritsmas. He will love it because it came from someone he loves, and what a woderful Chritsmas.

clothes. I'd enjoy a nice plain sweater( a good color like black, not gray or beige, nothing offensive to the eyes. this is so easy, just know what he likes and don't spend a ton of money. ( ok ok it's kinda hard)
