Please don't.

In the Air Force you can sign up for 2 years instead of the normal 4 years.

If you go AWOL, oh you'll be sorry!! That stays on your record for the rest of your life and it may determine whether you get a good job or a sloppy one. Trust me, my Dad went AWOL in the Navy and it hurt him

You can join the Navy for 2 years instead of the usually 4. The recruiters don't like to adverstise this because then everyone would do it. I was in the Navy and met a bunch of the 2 yr members. I wish I had know that before I signed on for 4!
Something else they don't tell you is that you can leave bootcamp at any time. It's called "failure to adapt" on your record and it's an "Other than honorable" (same as medical or administrative) discharge. Which is nothing, it's not looked at in a bad way by employers or anything. You just have to be alone with someone in charge and tell them you just can't mentally do it.

These days, once you in, you're in for as long as they want you.

You'd be better off going to a trade school in construction or computers. The graduates come out making $125 an hour depending upon the job. Some of the schools are begging for students, grabbing them out of h.s., and they have lists of available jobs when they graduates. Trade industries are offering jobs up the wazoo.

Lawyers and accountants are doing it too-- to get out of the rat race. And the military is a rat race. So weird how a four year college degree doesn't mean much anymore. Those guys are struggling to earn a living out of college.

what one of your answers states fails to state is that if you join and are discharged with anything other than honorable, it stays with you forever. if you want to buy a firearm you need to declare it. if you want to get a passport you need to declare it and if you want a professional license yes you guessed it you need to declare it. You might try the merchant marines. they send you to school, you pay for it. Then you work on commercial ships going through out the world with a company scheduling you from port to port. after a profitable year you can leave to pursue other things.

Don't even bother.
Or better yet...talk to recruiters.
By the time they get done laughing a year would have passed and you can move on to the next stage of your life.
