It makes us (men) feel like in Stone Age: hunting and preparing dishes from wild animals for the family which is waiting in a good shelter in a cave. A certain feeling to be a Real Man (if it possible today), I guess.

pretty archaic question. Are you a cave man? ;) My exhusband could not cook either in the house or outside of it, so I have become quite the grillmaster in addition to a kitchen chef. Honestly, I have always "manned" the grill, come to think of it. With the "man" only lighting the grill from time to time and cleaning out the ashes before cooking. So maybe women don't do it because its kind of a dirty job.
My new boyfriend puts the meat on the grill, but I marinate it and prepare everything ahead of time, so just because he plays with his BBQ tools doesn't really mean I'm not doing the cooking. The hard part is already done, he just applies heat, I have already given it the flavor. hehe. anyway, fair is fair! Men should cook once in a while!

Women can cook outside.
I think it is a primeval thing in men, a throw back from the hunter gatherer era or something.
Man must barbeque. Women must toss salad and butter rolls.
Can't men cook indside??

Men feel that fire is their forte - personally my DH lets me cook wherever I want (chef and all) but meat on the grill burns for the same reason it does on the stove the heat is too high - turn it down or burn it down and flip after 3 minutes tops on meat 1/2 minute on hot dogs or sausage to prevent burning.

Good question. If I haven't come across yr question, I don't notice this. But it's a fact!
I think subconsciously we always have the thought that women are responsible for matters within their home, while men are responsible for those outside home.
These kinds of thoughts arise from the society.

Good point..also isn't it ironic how women are supposedly the ones who are supposed to do all the cooking, but the most famous cooks in the world are mostly men...?

Here in Switzerland it's easy. In winter you give your guests a cheese fondue - and only a man knows how to mix a fondue.
In summer it's a BBQ - a male reserve. Trouble is, it's either a burnt offering or a bloody sacrifice.

Because men like fire and making things with fat and lots of meat (hot dogs, steak, hamburgers, ribs, etc.)
That should change though. No reason why women can't use a bbq.

Barbecue is usually a hot task and very smokey while cooking in the kitchen is easier.
