I recently found out I had this and am now going thru my second flair up of pain, it's starts in my back and moves around to my hip and makes everything hard to do, I haven't slept in my bed for 5 nights now as I could barely get up. Anyway, I am going back to er tomorrow, yes gonna spend thanksgiving in hospital, and am curious as to what they can do to make this better and how long the pain usually lasts. And is there anything I can do to get more comfy??? Please someone who has been thru this HELP!

Oh I feel for you. Bursitis is very painful. My ex had bursitis of the toe and he couldn't sleep or walk. He was prescribed a pain medication that doubles as an anti-inflammatory like high-dosage Ibuprofen. He was told to stay away from alcohol, red meat and anything fatty. The Ibuprofen works really fast and that really takes care of the pain and inflammation.
You might want to ice the area and see if that gives you any relief in the meantime. Take care.

My mother had pain in her foot a year or so ago, and they eventually determined that it was caused by hip bursitis, which changed the way she walked. Ever since they determined that, she has improved greatly, and she seemed back to normal within a couple months.

I don't know the specifics, but she did physical therapy, and used a variety of pain medicines (both oral tablets, and patches with medicine to target the specific area). Your pain however sounds a lot worse. Good luck, I hope they get you some pain meds so you can sleep!

I had bursitis in my left shoulder and I know your pain. I had pain shots for the flair ups. Then I became pregnant and the bursitis went away. That was years ago, but I still remember the pain. Hope you get relief soon.
