I have a remote control that works perfectly fine except for two buttons, the channel up and the sound down buttons dont work. I took it apart and everything looks fine but still no joy. Is there anything i can do before i buy an new remote?????

Since you can take it apart, get some ethyl alcohol (also called denatured alcohol) from a drug store and clean the metal pads on the circuit board that the buttons press against (use a paper towel to make sure you scrub it good). Also clean the hard little dots embedded in the keypad.

The alcohol is cheap, and you can keep doing this every so often until you go for a new TV.

Take apart the remote and see if the buttons work with no surrounding, if so, its your case, if not, the buttons arent making contact, find a way to fill in the space, like foam or some item related to make the button be able to make contact with the metal piece, lastly if not, go to the dollar store and get a universal remote there, i did, works like a charm, only it looks like cheap plastic, but for $1, i cant argue

Maybe the plastic part that you actually press in, isn't touching the electronic part that tells the remote to turn the sound up/down.
