Remember, rental shops usually buy the most basic and inexpensive equipment and then rent them out a lot. Those two year old skis have probably seen more than ten years worth of skiing in that time. As the previous poster said, there are tons of good deals on Ebay. Also, check out your local ski shops, if they have any equipment left over from last year you can usually find very good prices on brand new gear.

The Head Cyber XP 80 would be more of a demo ski than a rental ski. I have a pair and they are a few years old but are really a good ski. They are for the advanced skiier who likes to carve. The edges are stronger than on most skis as they are made of a special material. Do they have good bindings on them? For $225 it's a pretty good deal in person at a shop. You can really get some awesome deals on ebay if you are patient. I have been debating on selling mine on ebay but I don't know if I can bring myself to it as they are good skis. ( I do have 2 other pairs). If you are interested let me know.

here is a recent ebay auction of those skis, but they are flat (without bindings)
