The person has to live alone and have at least like 5, fully grown cats.

I definately fit some peoples' descriptions of the crazy cat lady. I have 3, and had all three of them as a single woman who lived alone. You can sometimes spy all three of them in the living room, and there are several cats in my decor. Not sure if I can find 12 though. I'd like to add some cat plates to my kitchen eventually.

I've had the same three cats for 6 years; my oldest is 16. I have turned down offers for more cats, because if I take a 4th, I'll take a 5th, and if I take the 5th, I'll need a 6th, etc. If I continued to do this, I'd become a crazy cat lady.

Usually this happens to a kind soul who takesin cats from the street but does not have the finances to geat them all fixed and then thjey have kittens and so until the situation gets out of hand and the ASPCA should be notified for the sake of the cats but do talk to the person first . There are also collectors who take in all the strays but get too many to take caer and the situation is then awful or the person for get overrun by cats and the cats are not fed properly and live in squalor and again such a sitiation if one becomes aware should be reported for the sake of the animals as soon as possible. Someone who takes in strays, no matter how many, and is taking care of them and finding homes for them is not then a crazy cat lady but a caring human being and should be left alone Its not the no of cats but how they are being treated, taken care of that's important

I don't think it's the actual number -- I think it's the management. Here's how you can tell you are in the home of a crazy cat lady:

1. You walk in the door, and the major smell is litter box.
2. You sit down to chat, and you sit on a cat (extra points if you trip on two or more on the way to the chair).
3. Your hostess offers you a beverage, and it's got catnip in it. On purpose.
4. And cat fur. Not on purpose.
5. You can spy at least three live cats in the room.
6. You can spy at least a dozen fake cats in the decorating scheme.
7. The hostess devotes at least as much of her conversation to the cats as she does to you.
8. The cats answer back.
9. And make wittier comments than you(-:.
10. And when you say good-bye, she tries to give you a kitten to take home. And if you can't take a kitten, she asks about friends, relatives, ex-lovers or business associates who might want a kitten.

(-: I'm a crazy cat lady in training.

I think being a crazy cat lady is based more on the state of mind than on the number of cats in the household! That said, I am doomed to someday be the crazy cat lady.

My number varies. I live in the country and people drive out and toss cats and kittens out and they come to my house. I also have a dog that goes on kitten patrol every day - he walks down the little road, finds garbage bags of tossed kittens and brings them home. If my vet doesn't see me in a week or two, he will call to see if I'm okay. I don't think I am crazy, I just feel sorry for little animals that once had a warm home and were loved, and suddenly found themselves discarded, alone and afraid. Can't help it. The most cats and kittens I've had at once was 39, but I found homes for the majority of them. I was down to five but my dog found a bag of kittens this morning during his rounds, so the number is climbing. The crazies are those jerks that throw their animals out on the road rather than taking them to the animal shelter! (These cats live in my stables - not my house, and they are all spayed, neutered, and have shots.)

I'm not a crazy cat lady but I have a niece who is going to be. She has over 30 cats and she's only 7. Gross eh. She finds them and feeds them. When her parents take some to paws, she finds MORE. She's crazy about cats, especially ugly or deformed ones. She had one cat that had it's eye poked out that she named cyclops. When I went over to her house over the weekend I thought I saw a hyena running in the road and of coarse it wasn't it was just a cat. AN UGLY CAT.
The reason the parents can't take all of the cats to paws is because in our community there are foster parents for animals, we don't have a facility and so then only so many cat's can have homes at a time.

i do no longer think of it rather is the numbers ... i think of it rather is the cat-itude! My worldwide revolves around my 4 kitties. And my heart nonetheless mourns the lack of ability of my loved Maybelle who crossed the bridge 3 weeks in the past the day ahead of this. We shared 17 years, 30 days at the same time till CRF took her away. i do no longer make any substitute in my existence that would adversely impression the kitties. whilst i became single any guy that mentioned i mandatory to 'get rid of my cats' became asked to leave and not call lower back! So as quickly as I met my husband, we each and each agreed we've been 'kit deals'...he had a teenaged son and that i had the cats. the lovable element is, he now tells human beings he have been given the extra useful end of the deal! whilst my center cat became clinically determined with pussycat diabetes 5 years in the past, maximum of human beings asked if i became going to place her to sleep! My reaction to them..."If she became somewhat female as a replace of a cat, might you have nonetheless asked that query?" some human beings stuttered then replaced the issue and a few human beings gave me a dirtly look and walked away. I enjoyed it!! And to David, I laughed so annoying....your reaction is invaluable. right here is yet another one...in case you're typing your Yahoo answer with one hand because of the fact between the kitties is on your lap and has his head in the different hand so which you will scratch him, you could desire to be a loopy Cat woman!

6 or more may make you a crazy cat lady. But I think as long as you can take care of them all and give them all the love and attention each one deserves then have as many as you can handle. Unfortunately, the city codes may have something different to say about that.

If the number of cats in a house is more than double the number of people, there is a crazy cat person. If you live alone, more than two is crazy. Can you imagine the litter box?! YUCK!
