LOL. When I get hiccups, I take a glass of water. Then, I take a gulp but DON"T swallow it yet. Close your nose and ears at the same time with your hands and then swallow the water. Do this three times. SERIOUSLY, it works every time. I know, it's a process. TRY IT! Lol. :-D

A hiccup is a spasm of the phrenic nerve, which in turn causes the diaphragm to spasm. There are medications to get rid of hiccups, but many home remedies exist as well.
The tried and true is breathing in a paper bag. By "rebreathing" you increase the concentration of carbon dioxide and change the pH in your blood. Just don't do it until you pass out!
You can also take an ice cold glass of water, bend all the way forward and drink form the opposite side of the glass to you. theoretically you "cool" the phrenic nerve this way as it sits behind the esophagous. I don't know if the reasoning is sound, but it does work.
If home remedies don't work, you may be having a real medical problem. Hiccups on their own are not dangerous... but what causes them might be.

I have used lots of remedies for my kids and the two that worked the best were a spoonful of sugar or drinking water while bending at the waist, from the wrong side of the glass (sounds strange but it does work.) If none work, I suggest the doctor too. Good luck!

Try holding your breath while pushing out your diaphragm. A hiccup is just a spasm of the diaphragm. hope that helps.

Take a glass of water and drink it using the edge of the glass that is furthest from you. This means that you will have to bend your neck in an awkward angel. Fun to watch, and effective!

Boo!
Stretch to expand your diaphragm, and breathe out simultaneously.
Better go see the doc if this persists.

could be you aren't breathing right, not that there's anything wrong with you, you just need to take deeper breaths.
It could be from anxiety, are you stressed?
I think deep breathing exercises might help.
