An addictive behavior which is based on repetition may be a symptom of autism. If an action, a sound, or a phrase is repeated on end, this may be one of the results. If there is addictive behavior but no other signs of autism (normal speech, normal social interaction, etc.) there may be a different problem.

Addicts can "quit" their behavior. Autistic people can't quit being
autistic.
