I wouldn't say so, however, maybe she is still hurting from the divorce and doesn't trust herself to be making the right decisions right now.
There is nothing wrong with being close to your parents, whatever your age, and if she is simply asking for her mother's opinion, I'd say that's okay. Especially with the divorce. I would see a problem if she has been separated for a long time and is essentially "over" the past marriage, and she is not making ANY decisions for herself. That would be more than strange. If that is the case, it sounds like a) she doesn't want to be responsible for failing to make good decisions or b) she is reverting back to mommy's little girl and allowing her mother to control her life, because it's the easiest way to cope.
Advice? You might want to find out why before you get too involved. Good luck though. I hope it turns out to be nothing "strange".

I don't think she should need her mother's approval, but she should certainly be interested in her mother's opinion. You're interested in the opinions of strangers, you know, just by posting this question. Her mother has been in her life for as long as she can remember, and so if she asks her mother's opinion, I suppose it is because she values it. Don't take it to heart, though. Ultimately, she should know it is her decision to make and no one else's. It's just good for her, that if she's having reservations about the person she's going out with, to seek out the opinions of others, especially if those people truly care about her and love her, as I'm sure her mother does.

Some women trust their moms and value their mother's opinion cause they know their moms want the best for them...so its normal. BUT, the woman should have the final word and choose who SHE wants, not what her mother wants.

It seems perfectly normal. We women just need to know that we are making the right and best decision. Our mothers are our bestfriends and it's nice to have their opinion.
