My Cat gorges on dry cat food- then promptly runs away (usually onto someones bed or to the couch) and vomits.

Do you think it's because he is a boy cat named "Rosie"? Do you think maybe his gender confusion issues are causing him to hate his body?

By the way- it's not working... he's still quite a rotund little feline.\

HELP!!!

Are you feeding him a grocery store cat food? Some cats have trouble digesting dry foods that contain red dye. You will commonly find this in foods like Friskies, Meow Mix, etc. It looks really appealing to you, it is not necessarily as good for your cat. Most pet food are manufactured for human appeal. They figure that, if you think it looks good, you will think it tastes better for your cat.

It may also be due to the fact that your cat is not chewing his food properly. This could be the result of a broken tooth, plaque build up on his teeth, or a dental abcess. Cats should have their teeth checked at least once a year to see if any dental work is in order. Believe it or not, dental disease can be the root cause of some heart disease in both people and animals.

At the very least, consider purchasing a high quality dry food. I prefer Royal Canin, but there are others out there that are just as good for your cat. They may cost a bit more, but your cat will actually eat less of it, and you won't have as much of a mess in your litterbox. These higher quality foods tend to be more digestible, signalling your cat that they have eaten enough sooner, and resulting in less bulky and much less smelly stools.

I have a horse named Rosey.... but SHE is a girl. I doubt the name matters since the cat doesn't know it is a girl name. Try feeding the cat some wet food. The cat might hate the dry food, is he old?? maby he cant chew properly and so he isn't digesting it all. If he doesn't get better and he refuses to eat, then I suggest taking him to the vet. The vet will probably put him on medication and stick a tube down his throat and force food in his mouth... try wet food first and give him attention after he eats.

Good Luck and God Bless

Your cat probably has some form of worms and needs immediate vet attention. He may be rotund because he is bloated from parasites. I adopted a very sick kitten and she was also quite bloated. Also, switch to a better brand of cat food that is specifically formulated for indoor cats. It digests easier and sill help your kitty cat out. Defnitely take him in for a deworming. He's not bulimic.

Cats throw up quite frequently (and usually re-consume) but....not after every meal. If he is quite rotund he surely has worms. I know this is gross but we do what we have to do for love of our pets. Check his poop for worms. Also check his butt sometimes they will be hanging out there too. If your cat has fleas, (does not have to be infested) and is engorged, and throwing up food ----> he's got worms. If you can afford a vet this is best and not too expensive. But if cost is an issue, it's usually not too expense for the pills to deworm them and I think you can buy them yourself at pet or feed store.
Good Luck and hope he/she (Rosie) gets better.

Cats just throw up at times.

It can sometimes be caused by Hair Balls from licking it's fur. Sometimes the food does not agree with it. Just ask your vet for more information.

This has happened to my cats before and I switched cat food ***Do that Gradually**

Also, vets sell a product for hair balls and some pet stores do also.

I recently had the same problem. I took my cat to the vet and found out he has an allergy to fleas.

The allergy caused the lining of the stomach to become inflamed, which caused the cat to vomit after eating. Left untreated the cat would have died.

Go to the vet!!! Why guess?

We once had a cat named Alma the Boy Cat (named before his balls grew) but he was never gender confused so it must be something else!

I had this problem with my cat, until he got a urinary tract infection that nearly killed him and cost me $1.300.00.

I changed his diet to a much better quality pet food, and he has been well ever since.

Your cat may have hairballs also. Try adding a bit of vasoline to his food.
