If you are making a large dinner, start the day before. You don't want all your dishes competing for oven space at the same time, and unless you have lots of kitchen help, it will be overwhelming to do it all on Thanksgiving Day. Think of everything that needs to be cooked/baked. Turkey, stuffing, rolls, yams, potatoes, pies, various side dishes and jello salads... if you haven't started yet, I suggest you get cracking! I put days not hours into preparing Thanksgiving meal. So much preparation to do! I try to cook as much as I can ahead of time so that I will not be stuck in the kitchen the entire day.

I don't cook the dinner, but I read in a good magazine that one can make the mashed potatoes, some of the casseroles, and even the turkey the day before and just heat them up. As for cleaning, get as much of it done a few days before-all the major stuff like bathrooms, under the couch, and the fridge-so you don't have cleaning as a major stress.

I bake the night before, I cook the day of, I usually end up spending around 4 hours total between prep and baking all of my homemade pies and breads especially!

Start a 5:00am everthing on the table 1:00pm then Football the rest of the day or if it nice take the Harley out for a blast

I made the cornbread for the dressing. The rest I'll start at about 6:00 am. I'll put the turkey in, then go back to bed for an hour and get up and do the rest.

Including planning 46. Recipes, research, shopping, checking for allergies, then redesigning menu, finally cooking and setting buffet If I served you can up by 1 hour and BTW I don't eat because I get over busy taking care of the details - now you know why moms need their little helpers ;).

Several hours, but that's what it is all about. I spent most of today shopping. The cranberries are done, the yams and stuffing are ready for the oven, tomorrow I will make the pie, using store bought pie dough. My husband will do the turkey in the deep fryer and we will enjoy the feast with our kids.
