I've had symptoms (numbness and pain) for over 20 years and, being a guitarist, it's pretty annoying. Will probably have surgery soon. Wondering what to expect as far as pain and suffering after surgery.

my dad has surgery for that a few years ago... actually, it was like 7 years ago now that i think of it...

he's fine now, and other than not being able to use his hand for 2 weeks after the surgery, he's fine. its like there was never a problem. he works with a construction crew, and he's a real big, real strong guy. he uses heavy duty tools all day, and can still do everything he did before with just as much strength. you should be fine after the surgery, just do what the doctor tells you. it worked for him. he's got a grip like a gorilla.

Surgery is not always the answer.I have had carpal tunnel for the past 10 years.By going for reflexology treatments and exercise ,I have been able to avoid surgery. The exercise is a very simple one. Stand with your hip to a wall, stretch your arm up behind you against the wall as high as you can and hold. This really helps.Good Luck.

I have it. dammit (am an artist) I don't have it bad enuff for surgery. I wear these hard plastic splints at night so I don't wake up 5o times from the numbness, pins & needles & pain. dr. reffered me to an occupational therapist who customized the splints to my arms.
