Yes, you can buy a money order with your debit card. The daily limit will depend on your bank. I know of a bank that doesn't have a daily limit based on purchases made, but does have a daily limit of what can be withdrawn from an ATM. As long as the money is in your account, you should be okay, but you can always call your bank and ask for clarification.

I've used my debit card at the US Post Office to purchase money orders before. The daily limit should be whatever your daily limit is for your debit card.

Ask the store if they will accept a check. You can also call the bank for options, they can offer you money orders or possibly even a certified check - some banks charge a small fee, but sometimes they don't if you have an account. Banks set a spending limit to protect you and themselves from fraudulent purchases.

Purchasing a money order with a debit card is considered a cash transaction and is subject to the same daily limits on your account as ATM transactions. Most debit accounts have a much lower daily limit for ATM (around $300-$500) than for purchases. Also a lot of banks will charge a fee on top of the fees imposed by the company that sold you the money order. Your cheepest and most reliable option is to just go to your bank and have them issue the money order for you.

I am pretty sure you need cash to get a money order, and as for a limit on debit cards, it's usually $500 a day.

I believe you have to use cash to get a money order and the daily limit usually is listed on the enclosure that comes with the card when it arrives in the mail.
