I use to bite my nails to but I stoped now and I don't even know how. I would suggest for you to tell like your friends or people you hang with most to help you out. Like everytime they see you biting them to tell you to stop. Also when ever you bite them remember it is bad for you.

1. Decide that you are going to stop. Pick a day and say that's it. No more nibbling. Now here are a few little ways to help.
2. There are some bitter tasting liquids that can painted onto the nails. I don't know anyone who actually liked the taste, so this is going to slow you down and give your nails a little time to start growing.
3. The minute you wash your hands, re-apply the liquid mentioned above. This will also focus attention on your hands and the nails which should be visible by now.
4. Keep an emery board in every room and one in your backpack or purse. The minute you notice a snag, use the emery board and not your teeth.
5. Buy a few bottles of pretty polish and some hand cream. You are going to keep your nails polished and your hands soft. In a weeks time, you are going to notice a difference.
6. Once a biter, always a biter. I have stopped, but it only takes a snag for me to revert back to old habits. I have to follow these tips too.
7. You might have been looking for a magical way to stop biting your nails, but I'm afraid that there is no such thing. You simply have to put your mind to it and stop!
8. Will power is an amazing thing. If you want something badly enough, you can do it. If you want pretty nails, you are the only person who can stop it from happening.
Vinegar helps - put vinegar mixed with normal nail polish on your nails.
ChapStick is cheap and works too. The petroleum jelly moisturizes the cuticles (and helps them heal faster), while the fact that you will have petroleum jelly on your nails and cuticles will be incentive enough to prevent yourself from biting them. At the start of each day, just put a glob on each cuticle and rub it into the skin and on the nail (reapply as necessary).
Also chewing gum is said to work too.
Oh and I heard from a friend that biting your nails is nastier than licking a toilet seat! How gross is that? After that shared information, biting my nails was no longer a problem for me. So when you are thinking about biting those nails of yours, think about your toilet seat too.
Hope fully one of these will work for you!

I have the same annoying problem. During the weekend my mom was so desprate for me to stop biting my nails she put tape all over them (not my whole hand just around my fingers) ! After about three days she took them out and they was really big! I loved how my nails looked but after a day I couldn't take it and I bit them. *Sigh* Anyways try that. Hope it works!!!

Ive bitten my nails for 10 years and I have no intention of stopping... but if you really want to break the habit i would try painting your nails, and keep them painted at all times so you wont feel the need to bite paint. It doesnt taste good. I know they have this special stuff that tastes even worse youre supposed to put on your nails. good luck!

I stopped naturally just a few months ago...yay me! lol. I suggest that you DO NOT put anything for a Dog on ur nails. Dogs are different than people. It could have harmful chemicals in it that can harm you. But, you should put nailpolisher remover on your nails so that whenever you do bite them, there is a nasty taste in ur mouth. Also, try hot sauce.
Hope this works and helps!!

armychick's answer above is one good option... but my suggestion is to simply put your mind to it, some good will power. I bet if you really wanted to, you could stop chewing your nails. Just try to be aware of it so you don't do it w/out even realizing it.

Buy the nail-bitting polish . It tastes really bad and it'll stop the habit. You can find it at Wal-Mart....

Same problem here :)
Don't push yourself into stop doing it: it's worst. God knows my mom did everything. I simply one day realised I liked them when they're long. I still bite them sometimes, but they managed to survived at least two weeks.
