Big cities wise, London and Dublin are both attractive in their own ways. London will probably have more opportunities to offer and will be a more happening place than Dublin. There are more things to see, more places to shop and it's more cosmopolitan. But Dublin is a nice place too, for one, I think it's a pretty quaint place and the pub scene is really lively. The people also seem much friendlier and their lifestyles appear more relaxed than the fellow londoners. And of course, needless to say, the cost of living is lower in Dublin too.

But of course, England is not all about London and Ireland is not all about Dublin. Personally, I find the countryside in Ireland more attractive than those in England.

And finally, if you choose one over the other, don't worry too much about what you're missing out. Ireland and England are very close together and it's pretty cheap to commute by plane between the two countries.

England is one of the most expensive countries to live in the world, plus has the most demanding tax laws. Ireland will be easier if you don't have money.
