Boil em, Drain them, whip them with a hand blender! Thats always the best way! Be sure to mix them with some salt and pepper, a little milk or cream and a big ol dollop of butter. Mhmmm sounds yummy! Don't forget the gravy!!! Good luck, Happy Thanksgiving!

Traditional mashed potatoes are made by peeling and cubing the potatoes and boiling them. After they have finished boiling you drain them and add your butter, milk, salt, and pepper. Then you mash all the ingredients together.
A twist on this recipe that makes it healthier is to add yogurt in place of the butter and milk.

Another way to make mashed potatoes is to make dirty potatoes. to make these you don't peel the potatoes and add fried onions. These make a great side dish and are usually well received.

Peel your potatoes, cut them into two inch cubes, boil the water, droop in your cubed potatoes, boil until they are fork tender. Drain well, add a few drops of milk, alot of butter, salt, pepper, and a few dollops of sour cream for a great flavor. Mix with an electric mixer or smash with a potato masher.

TWICE BAKED POTATOES, YUM!!! Wrap potatoes in foil, bake at 425' til they feel a little squishy if squeezed thru the foil. Leave oven on. Cut in half while hot with foil still on. Use a spoon to take the center of the potato out, leaving a 1/4 rim of potato in skin. Mash potato with butter, salt & pepper, sour cream. Add grated cheddar to taste (may need a little milk as well), mix. Put mixture back into shell. Sprinkle liberally with more shredded cheddar. Put filled potato halves in oven proof dish. (If they want to tip over, crumble foil to prop them upright). Put in oven approx 10 minutes till cheese on top melted. Options- Bacon bits, any kind of cheese, fat-free cottage cheese can be substitued for sour cream, leftover chili, green onions... very versatile. Absolutely delicious, makes a meal in itself or can be served with meat and a salad. Leftovers are great!!!

Boil your potatoes that are peeled, washed, and diced until tender.Drain.Make sure you don't add your milk until after you have mixed in your butter and salt with the mixer and have gotten nearly all the lumps out. Adding cold milk to soon is what causes lumps.Hope this helps.

Peel potatoes, slice, boil in hot water until soft. Mash with butter, sour cream, salt, pepper, garlic, chives or even cheese.
You can slice them up and microwave them until soft and then mash.
either way
