the HDMI is a multimedia connection, meaning it not only carries the highest quality video signal available (a step above the "DVI" connection), but also carries a HD audio signal. So, this cable replaces your Red, Yellow, Blue (component video) AND your Red, and White (composite audio).

If given the oppurtunity, I highly recommend using the HDMI

The HDMI gives the better picture...The other connection is component not be confused with composite(1 wire)

go with the hdmi. gives you better picture. you don't need to buy one of the high dollar cables, a generic cable will do just as good as say the monster brand.
