My friend says the 3 second rule only counts when folks are looking. I say it can stay down there for three days if you're comfortable with that.
Is this a health rule or an embarrassment kind of thing?

haha, depending on where you dropped it, but id mostly say its just an embarassment thing. the way i look at it, the more germs i expose myself to, the more my immune system is built up. peope in our society are so anti-bacterial caught up that they grow up and find out that they have no immune system. BUT thats just me lol. oh, and a tip, ice cream and suckers- water definitly washes away the germs, but leaves the flavor :D haha

I have like a 5-10 second rule, even if other people are looking. It's just the floor, your hands are probably dirtier than that.

there is no 3 second thing for food. once it touches the floor it gets infested with bacteria(a proven fact)however since im a turkey and always eat off the floor....... i guess there is a 3-second drop......

I always thought it was five seconds too.
Bahhhh if it is your floor it is cool man. Just as long as you dont walk through manure and track it through your house.

relies upon what nutrition and the place. i might p.c.. up slightly bit bread and consume it if I have been in my living house. If i dropped in in a cafe the i does not. the comparable with a knife, fork or spoon.

Depends on the floor.......if you drop it in a high traffic area..I wouldn't even look at it.....but then again...why take chances....I don't touch food dropped on the floor.
But I hear it's 3 seconds.and for health reasons.

As long as it is in your house and you know how clean your floors are. I have a 2 year-old so my floors get cleaned constantly.

Longer is OK if you blow on it and brush it off before popping it into your mouth, sure, why not three days...if the ants didn't take it away!
