It depends on what type of allergy you have to aspirin. Generally speaking if you are allergic to aspirin you shouldn't take Advil, Motrin, Aleve or their generics Ibuprofen or Naproxen. However, if your allergy is upset stomach then you can take the others as this is a common side effect of all anti-inflammatory medications. If you have a true allergy you need a prescription.

Ibuprofin is asprin related, so it's dangerous to try it. I wouldn't do it without a bunch of benadryl nearby. Actually I just wouldn't do it. Percoset or vicodin are the latest designer pain killers. You can get cough meds with codine in Canada and many other countries. You didn't say what country you are in, so not sure what to tell you. You can get black market vicodin in the USA pretty easily if you ask around. Or you can grow opium poppies, though the side effects are bad, i.e. jail time, dead brain cells, liver damage, etc. If you have a real problem, why not just get a refillable prescription?

Ibuprofen doesn't have aspirin and it is used as a pain reliever. It helps most with inflammation. You can take up to 800mg at one time.Even though your bottle says 400mg. I don't expect you to believe the mgs from someone on Yahoo answers but call your pharmacy so you feel comfortable taking that amount. It is correct.I hope that helps you.

ibuprofen (advil)
each pill over the counter can't exceed 200mg per fda regulations, but you can take up to 4 pills every 8 hours with plenty of food in your stomach so that it doesnt upset your stomach. also, ibuprofen is very good. i usually dont need any more than 200-600mg per dose.

You didn't say why you were taking the pain killer. If you are using it for muscular pain, I would use ice and heat and perhaps a Ben Gay type of product.

If you are taking it for some other type of pain, I would ask a physician.

Aleve or the generic version Naproxin.
If your having chronic pain and you develope tolerences to medication becuase you take so much, see a doctor.
