11 Behold, we account them blessed who have endured. You have heard of the patience of Job, and you have seen the end of the Lord, that the Lord is merciful and compassionate. 12 But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath. But let your speech be, yea, yea: no, no: that you fall not under judgment. 13 Is any of you sad? Let him pray. Is he cheerful in mind? Let him sing. 14 Is any man sick among you? Let him bring in the priests of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick man: and the Lord shall raise him up: and if he be in sins, they shall be forgiven him.
It says to annoit with oil aswell and know I checked the "catholic bible" and it said prayer instead of sacrament, so there goes your catholic bash.

Because the bible says the sacrament is given by the priest, a TRADITION of the Catholic Church.
Mark 6:13 - the apostles anointed the sick with oil and cured them. This is a sacrament of the Catholic Church instituted by Christ which heals us physically and spiritually.
James 5:14 - the presbyters (priests) are called (not individual believers) to anoint the sick with oil and pray over them. Their sins are forgiven. This is the sacrament of the sick, also called extreme unction.
James 5:15 - during the sacrament of the sick, the priest's prayer of faith will "save" the sick man, and the Lord will raise him up. The word "save" comes from the Greek word "sozein" which means an eschatological saving of life from death.
James 5:14 -15 - these verses demonstrate another example of how priests effect the forgiveness of sins (here, even without confession) by the power of Jesus Christ. Protestants have no plausible exegesis of this passage other than to acknowledge the sacrament of the sick.
Gal. 4:13-14; 2 Tim. 4:20 - Paul was afflicted with sickness. These verses show that not all illnesses were cured in the apostolic age.

Early protestants gave up 5 of the 7 Sacraments. The only ones that remained were Baptism and Holy Communion, both of which were engaged in by Jesus himself. The others (confirmation, confession, marriage, ordination, & last rites) were seen as not established by Jesus, so did not rise to the level of sacramental. However, each of these activities still take place in every church, with the possible exception of individual confessions.

Did you find that in a Catholic Bible? The new American Standard Bible quotes: "And the prayer offered in faith will restore the sick , and the Lord will raise him up and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven"

Well, the NIV says, "And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well..." so all Christians should participate in the "sacrament of the sick" by praying for others in faith!!

As with most scripture, the issue comes with the particular translation used. The Catholic translations came first, but since I don't speak Aramaic or ancient Greek I couldn't begin to tell you which one is correct

I'm at the Library, while my good wife is making Thanksgiving Dinner, how dare you question the Amish. Hey my child, God Answers Prayers but only to those that are true to him. If you submit to the Power Companies and Join the Service to Kill People you will go to Hell. God will only Save the Christians that don't give into Society, The Evil Rock Music, the Computer, Electricity. Use only natural things of God, No Dishwashers, no Irons. etc. Only Amish will meet God. I pray for you
