Why do grown-ups tell their kids to enjoy being a kid and then turn around and say they can't go out?

Are my parents just being cruel?
I don't understand them?

Don't tell me to mature a bit because
I am at the age where staying at home
is boring.

If you want to know the story, say so.

They'd rather I stay home and use the computer..
or ugh...
it's soooo retarded right now.

Some parents are a little too tight reigned on their kids. All that does is cause rebellion.

no your parents arent just being cruel. are you grounded for something? Maybe they are just trying to protect you, I look back and wish my parents did protect me and pay a bit more attention to me cause i did try alot of the stuff you should just say NO to and uh...its really not worth it. At any rate, your parents are only human too, they are just trying to do the best they can for you in the only way they think that is the best way. Kids dont come with a manual, my son is only 3 and each year it gets a bit more complicated...So, I think I can answer your question though about "Why do grown-ups tell their kids to enjoy being a kid and then turn around and say they can't go out?" Well it might have something to do with the fact you have no real responsibilities in life other than doing well in school. You dont need to worry about food, clothing, and since you have a computer you should be doing alright. Everything has a cost in life that you dont have to worry about until you get out on your own. Water = $
Electricity = $ Sewer / Trash = $ House = $ & property taxes. Health Insurance Dental insurance = $
Luckily you are a kid who dosnt have to worry about it and your parents are just trying to take care of you without you being aware of that burden either.

chill u will be 18 one day and able 2 move out and make ur own rules. also u will pay ur own bills, make ur own mistakes, pay 4 said mistakes and wish 2 god u where back living at home lol.

Im not sure why ur parents r keeping u close at home but maybe if u showed them how mature u are they will change there minds n give u a little more freedom. remember we earn what we get in life so if u want something start learning 2 earn it. right now that means following the rules ur parents set down later in life it will 2 mean making sure u r working hard n having a roof over ur head.

it sucks either way u look at it but there it is.

Be happy that your parents are wise enough to keep you from going out. There is more than just "fun" out there, there is trouble and heartache for you and your parents. You must understand that a young person usually considers some activity fun, which is considered by parents as troublesome. It will take several more years for you to fully understand the reasons your folks have for protecting you. So find some "fun" stuff to do at home. Hopefully your parents will also monitor your computer.

To make it simple your parents are not being cruel there is a lot out there and their fear for you is making them seem boring, cruel and just stupid. They also remember all the stupid crap they did at your age and they know everything you would do because they have already done it...Don't sweat it you will be saying the same thing to your kids in twenty years...LOL I do. Be patient college comes sooner than you think.

You will have all of your questions answered when you become a Parent. I felt the same way when I was your age, and now as a mother I get it. Just know that they love you very much and that love is golden. They are just doing the best they can.

Family interaction is very important to healthy raising of children. Interact, get involved, love, caring, support are key improtances. We have a 24 and 26 year old and have included them in all aspects of our lives. We had a yearly "Halloween" trip to the mountains with horseback riding, fishing, pumpkin carving contest, and fireside chats. We (wife and I) have had as many as 13 teens on the trip. Tell mom and dad to get with the program and have some fun. Your youth is improtant for your growing!

they tell their children to enjoy being a kid because as we all know it can never be repeated. on the other hand, they tell them not to go out to tell them that they must know their limitations. in every rights there is a responsible, where the same, just obey them because they knew what was right base on their own experiences

Then try using your imagination. It sounds like you need to stay home and exercise it, just to get it in shape again. There's a lot more to do than going out. Challenge your brain a little and give it some thought.

well I'm 17 and my parents didn't let me fully do as i please till i was going on 17 really i think it depends on how old you are, how strict your parents are and how mature you are, actually i was in trouble alot when i was ages 13-15 but i guess i grew up and realized i didn't have time to get in any trouble and that's when they gave me my freedom

don't know if helped but i hope so
