my doc has put me on xanax,there white and look like they can be broken.he gave me samples . i just need the mgs of this.i heard it was 2mg but i need to know for sure.

If looks like a football then it is 0.25mg. If it looks like a bar then it is 2mg.

Are you sure your doctor prescribed this to you? :-) It's seems odd that you wouldn't know to look at the pill bottle as it always has the dosage of what your doctor prescribed. It should give you the amount to take (how many pills, a half or whole one) and how often you should take them. 2 mg is an awful lot for an inital dose. More than likely a doctor starts a dose at 0.25 mg, up to maybe 0.5 mg, to start. 2 mg could be a dangerous starting dose. It may knock you out completely and even worse could cause a serious reaction. Do not ever take a medicine when it's not prescribed, especially this one, as it can cause a physical dependence. But when used under the care of a physician who can monitor you and your symptoms it is a good medicine in my opinion. This should be used for anxiety, nothing else.

I suggest you contact your doctor or pharmacist before taking them to find out the dosage and whether or not splitting the pills would change the pill's effect.

Take it to a pharmicist,only they will know for sure.Everyone will try to guess for you,but that's just human nature.Go to a pharmacist.
