I agree. But there's nothing we can do.

Everyone tries to make out like it's okay to be overweight. It's not. It's abnormal. It means someone is eating more than they're burning. So, regardless of the double-standard, it's not okay for men to get heavier either. If your guy thinks this way, give him the ultimatum: lose it or leave.

I have wondered that to. Sterotypically men are still the main breadwinners in the families and society so money attracts women and gold diggers come in all shapes and sizes. Give a man a smorgasboard and he will pick what he likes from it. It si not fair at all.

Who says its not ok for women? Yes, its a double standard like when men expect women to do the cleaning, etc. But it doesnt mean you have to live life that way.

While I do agree that this is unfair, I think it may be somehow linked to why men are attracted to women and vice versa. When men are attracted to women, they are looking for someone healthy who will be able to have healthy children. When women are attracted to men, they are looking for someone who will be a good provider and protector. Looks seem to be more important to men rahter than to women. This is why society may be more forgiving if men put on weight and less forgiving for us women.

becasue our society has influenced our thoguhts on how we protray women and men. Women are always held as double standards and they are "supposed" to be feminine, soft loving creatures and to society "atness"is not among the descriptions and characteristics of women.

the man's stock is high cause he makes good money. Just because he gains weight doesn't make him make less money so his stock stays high.
A woman's stock is high cause she looks sexy and fulfills her role satisfying her hard working man's sex drive. When she gains weight she stops looking sexy and her stock goes down.
That would be a very simple explanation.
