adopt a Dachshund puppy at....in Virginia near Winchester ? I can't seem to find anyone who carrys any. I don't want to pay a fortune for it so maybe you could tell me where i could get one for cheap.

Look for rescue groups just about anywhere in the United States. Most rescue groups state on their site whether ornot they will adopt outside of their regional area...and many do. I have been involved with doing home interviews and transportation for a rescue group for english setters. Some of the dogs I have driven for a leg of the journey, originated hundreds of miles away and were on their way to their furever homes.

food
dewormer
flea control
monthly heartworm preventative(very imprtant for small dogs esp)
teeth cleaning($150+)
dachshunds are very prone to back problems whne they get old and many need surgery which costs thousands of dollars
toys,chewies,bones
etc

Try to do a search for a Dachshund rescue group in, or near where you live. petfinder.com is another good place to look.

Go to the Humane Society they get them all the time also Daschund rescue of Virginia
If you cannot afford a dog then perhaps you cannot afford to take care of a dog.

Don't adopt a dog just because of it's breed. Look for a mutt of a smaller size, you'll be just as pleased!
