About once a week my cat's one eye will be watery and will shed a few "tears". What would cause this to happen and should I be worried? This started about a month or so ago and doesn't happend often but I am still concerned!

I plan on taking my cat to the vet after the holiday! No worries I will not let it get any worse! Trust me! I just wanted to hear some similar cases before I made an appointment

She might have a small scratch. Or she might have an upper respiratory infection. Either way, when you take her to the vet, they will tell you. But in the mean time, if she is acting normal otherwise (eating, drinking, playing), i wouldn't worry too much.

My vet recently told me, when I had this same question about a newly adopted kitten, that cat's noses run when they are sick, cats eyes tear up and run when it's allergies, UNLESS there are other symptoms. If she's acting normally and eating and drinking and pooping and playing well, it's probably just a slight eye irritation. If it becomes "gummy" she needs to see the vet.

maybe has a cold in it. get some salve from the vets to use when this occurs but make absolutely sure the cat has had all his shots. distemper can start with watery eyes or the herpes virus. ask your vet/.

your cat might have an allergy or infection. My cat used to get all that gunky stuff in his eye because of an infection. you might want to ask your vet.
