My son has never smoked, drinked or did drugs. Over the years of going to the doctor yearly, no high levels of anything. We also have no history of anything that could cause this on either side of the family. His arm just swelled up one day, I rushed him to the hospital, they did a sonogram and found a blood clot, a CT scan later that night showed it had moved from his arm to his chest. He is now on a blood thinner and his protime level is up to 2.8. The doctors and we are baffled. I hate to see my son like this, he is 6'2" and 165lbs. He was in good shape until this happened, he is now in pain and his arm can barely be moved. Can anyone help, or has anyone been there?

havent been there, but things can happen without explanation, but i might imagine he was hit hard in his arm, which would of caused the clot, by no high levels of anything, i assume you checked his cholestoral, checked him for high blood pressure etc best of luck to you

Sounds like your friend could have a heart condition cant tell until all the test are back he could have small clots breaking off and going to the heart i mean really small, it sounds more like he vagal vagaling which with any bearing down or pressure over a major vessel will cause constriction and decreased blood flow to the heart there fore slowing it down, and in some cases stopping the heart. If he's in a hospital he is where he belongs...Best wishes

I am very sorry to hear that. I believe your sun is now in a good hands (Doctors). make sure that the Doctors are telling you what is going on. get copy of all test and ask questions, ask questions over and over again...This can be very serious is you just trust Doctors which it is not a wrong thing to do but they most tell you what is going on. Don't be afraid "just ask questons"

I am glad he fine now and wish you and family a happy thanksgiving
