Yes, it's very fashionable, and as you said, there's a double standard out there that allows Christianity to be "bashed" while other religions are to be treated with kid gloves -- or else.
Just ask Mel Gibson. Then ask all the other celebs out there -- Heather Graham, Dennis Leary, and others -- who have slammed Christianity without consequence.
But having said that, Jesus told us that this would happen. He told us that following Him would involve being insulted, mocked, persecuted, and hated -- and that we would be blessed for it.

Could you provide some back up for the Media doing this? I mean, Christianity in general. The most I have seen is when that woman from Fred Phelps group was on the news and the news reporter quoted scripture to prove she was wrong.... but as for bashing? I have yet to see this in the media. Online, maybe... but not in the general public.... And no one that I know of calls a person who bashes another religion a Racist. That isn't even the meaning of the word Racist.

I'm not a Christian....but I've noticed that it is very fashionable for the media and people in general to bash smokers. Okay! I admit that smoking is not a good idea....but it's a bad habit that I just can't quit. No mercy for the smokers....we should know better.
Now...I'm not sure if that same philosophy applies to Christians or not....but why bother bashing them....they aren't gonna quit their religion any sooner than I'm gonna quit my cigarettes.

The media is run by the leftest democrats, and they hate us Christians/ As for 'people', I have found in my lifetime that most people will follow whomever seems to be the strongest or loudest in a group, and will often sneer at the one with the brains and know how in favor of those with the muscles and the volume.

I'm not sure it's fashion, I think it shows the general population drifting away from extremist and fanatical thinking, like Middle Eastern religions in general. I hope that more people will come to new age paganism and that America might become more polytheistic.

TTC you said it best.... I mean Christians are quick to be pleased with Jesus but the question to ask is he pleased with you? I really don't think Jesus would agree with most the actions of Christians today, I mean we are suppose to be upholding his name and lifting it up but all I see is some of us bringing shame.....
But it's ok because as long as we keep our eyes on Jesus and be mindful in our own walk there will be some of us who can say we were good and faithful servants.

...It is in many circles.
...I will admit our message is somewhat offensive - it is hard for the average man/woman to admit to being a sinner and humble themselves before Christ and trust in Him.
...Without considering whether or not the message is true, the news media has taken it upon themselves in many cases to try to belittle, ridicule, and discredit Christians and evangelical preachers. I can't help but think they hate the messenger and also the message - most media types don't have any kind of religious faith - 85% don't. Jesus said if they hated Him, they would hate God and His followers also
...(At the same time, the media exalts the "successes" of Hugh Hefner (who is a womanizer, adulterer, lecher, pornographer, and exploiter of women) and also Larry Flynnt, a long-time producer of smut.) and others.
...I wonder what they want - do they want us to trust in them and their "experts" and to champion their adopted causes? I think so - they would like us to follow them without question, and learn from them how to think - not me, brother! I will stick with the Word of God.
...In the end, each of us shall give account of Himself to God - He will take care of the consequences, and none will escape.
...As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Christianity brings it on themselves. If they could learn to keep their religion to themselves, they wouldn't get bashed. But when they try to make their religious beliefs into secular law (banning gay marriage, banning abortion, forcing prayer and Intelligent Design into schools, etc) that's when they go too far.
So... it's not about fashionable. It's about sick to death of Christians thinking they should be priveleged and that only they should matter.

Some of us believe in bashing all religions equally, but the ones that purport to be the one true way and to send non-believers to eternal torture are particularly worthy of bashing (e.g., Muslims and Christians)

Because the media is of the world - you remember who controls the world right now?
Jesus said ""If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first." John 15:18
