The reason is as simple as it is obvious.
Language is the instrument we use to transmit culture from one to another, from parent to child, from teacher to student, from the older generation to the next one, etc.
You may say that this can be done by the force of example and that is partially true, but only language enables you to explain WHY.

Language is not that important in its own self, but is extremely important because it is the most effective method of communication between human beings, infact to communicate with yourself also you need a language.

Think: what is the use of a language by which you cannot communicate with anyone ?

Reference the Sapir Whorf Hypothesis...just Google that and enjoy. Language is a direct and distinct influence on how one sees and interacts with their family, local community, and the world at large. There are many examples I can think of with regard to this idea. In English, or more accurately, American; we say, "I love you." This can be said to one's children or parents, wife or husband, girlfriend or boyfriend, etc. In Spanish, there are many different ways to say "I love you." depending upon context and such. "Te quiero" literally means "I want you" and this is typically said to your girlfriend or boyfriend; whereas "Te amo" is typically said to your parents or children. The Spanish language allows for a literal, linguistic understanding of the differences in love. There is a distinct difference in the love you have for a spouse versus the love you have for your child and Spanish has provisions for this linguistically. The expression of love in English is dependent upon context and the nuance of the situation to be fully understood. The meaning is more implied and indirect. In English, it is the responsibility of the listener to understand the meaning of the phrase, "I love you". In Spanish, it is the responsibility of the speaker to make themselves understood. This is a cultural difference.
Language is the most important element of culture because after language is learned; it is how we experience our world. A book as an object has a label. We look at that object and we immediately think book. If you had no name or concept of a book and you saw one it would simply be a curiousity.
It allows for communication and, as a result, organization. This organization is multi-layered and complex. We organize our thoughts using language. Because it facilitates common understanding within a group, language allows us to organize each other...and that is the beginning of culture; shared ideas and beliefs passed from one generation to another.

The structure of a culture's language mirrors the structure of that culture, and the way people in that culture think. If you learn someone's language, you know much of that culture already.

language is a natural instinct, its the reason why certain words are similar in several basic tongues

we actually have an inate ability to experiment when we are young babies, and learn far more in our first two years than we ever will again in the rest of our lives - sounds that occur naturally through changing the position of the mouth when we are experimenting and copying or reacting to our parents are misinterpreted by them as 'language' - the baby then reacts to their excited facial expressions and repeats the words again to achieve the same response

the need to express ones desires, needs, wants, etc verbally instead of bopping some one with a club and pointing at what you want them to do, just makes life a bit easier when you can verbally express your intention.
