i own a repair shop, and this means it has been stolen and recovered and may have odd ball parts on it to have put it back together with,, it don't mean its worth less but its not worth half as much as it would be if it hadn't been stolen,,good luck,i hope this helps.

I have never seen a theft recovery salvage title before--interesting. Maybe that is something that some states do and others don't.
Now I have seen plenty of just plain salvage titles. Mainly because that is the type of junk I buy to play around with (hey, some women collect knick knacks, I collect old cars--LOL)
But theft recovery means just that. It was stolen and probably ridden pretty hard before they stripped it. It was then recovered and brought back to life with a lot of parts some new, some used.
I did hear that some banks will not loan on a salvage title car though.

Here's the scenario:

A Corvette (or any car) gets stolen and parts are stripped off of it, and maybe sometimes there is minor body damage.

Someone buys the car at auction to fix it up and keep or resell.

When they receive the title, it specifies that the car was salvaged, meaning it would have been sent to a salvage yard if someone hadn't saved it.

It's to let future buyers know what went on in it's past.

I have seen rebuilt theft recoveries that were flawless, but it takes skill to fix it right.

These cars generally get less money, as people are naturally uneasy about a car that's been "violated" and may have rattles and so forth.

A Recovered Theft title is assigned to a vehicle previously titled as Salvage-Repairable with minimal damage. This title requires a sub-brand of Prior Fire, Vandalism, Collision, Theft or Flood.

Some states require an inspection of such a vehicle before it can be legally driven.

If you are considering a purchase you should check with your states dept of public safety on any rules/regulations concerning theft recovery vehicles.
