constantly scratching and biting his body. any alternative beside spending thousand at the vet with all kinds of medicene and shot. help!!

Dry skin could be driving him nuts. If that's the case, you could add a tablespoon or two of oil to his food.
Check for pests. Sorry - I know nobody wants to hear that!
If his immune system has declared war on his skin, do some internet searches on "canine pemphigus".

I don't know what you're refering to in auto immune system. does your dog have lupus? Sometimes there are skin problems, like in Addison's disease which is also an auto-immune disease. In that case, your dog might need to be on prenisone to control the skin problems.

Other than that, make sure he doesn't have fleas, etc.

I give my dog a half a pill of benadryl (anti-histamine), when he gets real itchy (per my vet). he has terrible environmental allergies, both inside and out of the house.

Make sure you are using proper dog shampoo as well, as dogs have very sensitive skin and do not react well to human shampoos as it strips their skin of natural oils.

try a bath in olive oil

He probably has fleas.
