I've responded with the same source time and time again. Read his original resolution: H.R. 2723. It is men and women, the only choices are Military or civilian related, no questions asked. You will give at least 15 months whether you like it or not. I don't know what you are listening to or basing your question off of, but do a little research. If is goes to congress again, he'll say he made a point and the republicans want your children to die (that is basically what he said last time). If it is shot down he'll claim it is because nobody wants their children to go to war. He's already won and doesn't have to do anything about it. Thank God we have so many people who would rather see our country vanish than defend or protect. Then again that's why we have people out there, you know the ones, the uneducated doing it for us. Sorry, sparky's remarks were no twisted joke.

There will be no draft, because the person proposing re-instating the draft is trying to make a political point - and a good one. If we as a country decide that we need to go to war (as a last resort after diplomacy and sanctions have failed to work) then EVERYONE needs to step up to the plate and do their part to help fight for the war. That means the draft, that means raising taxes rather than presenting the bill to the children and grandchildren, and that means shared sacrifice.
That means that if the war is so important and so critical that we MUST send troops that everyone from all sectors of society should share in the pain, not just the professional soldier.
As a teacher, I have seen several students go into the military. Inevitably, they go for one of two reasons: it is their only career option, or they go into it to receive money to go to college. It makes me sad that their career choice or their desire to go to college may end up getting them killed before they're 20 years old!
I liked the idea one New York Times letter writer proposed - if we MUST go to war, impose a $2 a gallon gas tax to pay for the war. That way, it won't go on the nation's credit card and people will realize the true cost of going to war. Then maybe they won't be so "rah rah" when the nation's leaders crank up the propaganda machine in getting us in another war.
Maybe if a draft was seriously considered, people wouldn't support sending troops to a war that shouldn't be fought in the first place. That was the purpose of the draft proposal made by Charles RangeMF

I really don't think the draft stand any chance in hell of returning any time soon unless it is a national emergency. It is not a popular program. You have a idiot politician that makes a statement and you all are getting all excited and it will not include women. Women are volunteering more than ever before, so dont' get's your fruit of the looms in a knot, there will be women there with you.

The all-volunteer military has worked out MUCH better than either John Kerry or Charles Rangel thought it would.
Unless there is a dire national emergency, the draft should not be reinstated.

My health care professional, Dr, Quack, believes that the requirement of legs to be able to face up is a physcological element and that persons can levitate. enable's placed this to the attempt. Have him sweep the backyard even as soaring 3 ft contained in the air once he returns from the medical institution.

I do not believe we will see a draft, unless Rangel suddenly gets popular in Congress.
If it happens, remember who wanted it.
ALL men and women to age 46? No.
Contrary to what you young cuties think, children do not raise themselves on tv and video games.

With a new Secretary of Defense and a new party in power, no, I doubt that there's a "snowball's" chance of the draft being reinstated. Amen.
