Anti-Semitic accounts in the New Testament have taught mankind to hate the Jew. As long as the New Testament continues in print (at least in its present form) the Jew will be hated. Here are but a few verses from where Christianity borrowed its anti-Semitic sentiments.

St. Gregory: “ Jews are slayers of the Lord, murderers of the prophets, enemies of God, haters of God, adversaries of grace, enemies of their fathers’ faith, advocates of the devil, brood of vipers, slanderers, scoffers, men of darkened minds, leaven of the Pharisees, congregation of demons, sinners, wicked men, stoners and haters of goodness.”

St. Jerome: “....serpents, haters of all men, their image is Judas ... their psalms and prayers are the braying of donkeys..”

St. John Chrysostom: “I know that many people hold a high regard for the Jews and consider their way of life worthy of respect at the present time... This is why I am hurrying to pull up this fatal notion by the roots ... A place where a whore stands on display is a whorehouse. St. Augustine: “Judaism is a corruption. Indeed Judas is the image of the Jewish people. Their understanding of the Scriptures is carnal. They bear the guilt for the death of the saviour, for through their fathers they have killed the Christ.”

St. Thomas Aquinas: “It would be licit to hold Jews, because of the crimes, in perpetual servitude, and therefore the princes may regard the possessions of Jews as belonging to the State.”

The teachings of Martin Luther:

These anti-semitic words uttered by popes, priests, pastors and laymen, were put into action by unruly Christian mobs and later by Hitler’s followers.

Over time, Christian anti-Semitism acquired a racial dimension along with its religious thrust. This had significant consequences. After all, when Jew-hating was rooted in religion, a Jew could convert to Christianity and become, as it were, fully kosher. But when states began forcing Jews to convert—or face expulsion or execution—the authenticity of the Jews’ conversions became suspect. After Christians conquered Spain from the Muslims in 1492, they forced Jews and Muslims to convert, flee, or die. Many Jews converted yet practiced their old faith secretly, leading church officials to make new rules discriminating against all so-called conversos.

In the 19th century, anti-Semitism became increasingly racialized. The Enlightenment certainly made life better for Jews, at least in Western Europe, where religious tolerance took hold. Yet the Enlightenment also brought new “scientific”—or, as we now say, pseudoscientific—notions that human beings belonged to different races, some superior to others. Under these notions, Jews (as well as Africans, Arabs, and others) were deemed to be biologically and thus immutably inferior to white or “Aryan” Europeans.

Alongside racism, 19th-century Europe also saw the spread of nationalism: the idea that every people deserved its own state. Nationalism served to justify the repression of “alien” peoples, especially Jews—not just in eastern Europe, where Jews lived in ghettos, insulated from their Polish or Russian compatriots, but even in Western Europe, where many Jews were assimilated and considered themselves full citizens of their countries. This new form of ideological anti-Semitism—seeing the Jews as an alien and inferior people amid Christian European nations—finally got its name in 1879, thanks to an Austrian journalist named Wilhelm Marr.

By this point, the ideology of anti-Semitism had bred elaborate theories about the Jewish people’s evil. In some cases, ancient religious bigotries were updated, as in the “blood libel” that Jews killed Christian children to use their blood in making Passover matzot. (In Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ukraine, and elsewhere, Jews were actually tried in court on such charges.) In other cases, the slanders were new, as with the publication of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, a document fabricated by Russian secret police that purported to divulge the Jews’ conspiratorial plans for world domination.

Well its difficult question. Mostly our of ignorance. Lets start that Jews believe that they are the chose people of God. Which isnt gonna get them any bonus points. They have bin in slaved by the Egyptians and prosecuted for long time. I think they are usually very smart and well education taking important positions as doctors, lawyers and bankers. Hitler blamed Jews for the poverty in Germany they were the perfect scape goat. Since they were non German and often had good positions. I think much hate has bin passed down from Nazism. Another reason is Jews keep to them self's and have there religion. Which makes them a target for persecution. A really major reason why Jews are hated today is Israel. Many hate the country cause they don't believe in the right of the countries existence. Especially Muslims! Books like mein kampf and Protocols of Zion in many Muslim countries are taught as fact even thou they are lies. Im very happy that my country protects Israel. I hope next generations of Americans will stand up for the rights of the Jewish state.

Sadly Jews are hated for the same reasons other groups are.

Ignorance.

I remember being told in grade school in 1970 that the Jews killed Christ. I remember pointing out that someone had to, otherwise he could not have died for everyone's sins.

Certain other people have a problem with the concept of charging or paying interest. This puts certain Muslims diametrically opposed to the perceived Jewish institution of banking.

Add to this completely horrific lies regarding devil worship and subhuman behavior and Jews get a bad reputation.

Only the truely uneducated don't see the contributions made by jewish peopel in the modern world.

Unfortunately there is no shortage of uneducated people, especially in the Arab world and among the poor everywhere.

Jews are going to continue to have a tough time until the rest of us can teach the planet to live with tolerance and peace.


If we consider the state of the world now compared to just a century ago, I think progress is being made.

Another hundred should do the trick.

I heard they like to back stab people, instigate and what they cared was all about money. Some are too obvious of being putting favor towards their own people. You can see how jewish film producers always choose jewish actor/actress as the main actor/actress. Also, it's weird how even a foreign Jew must contribute some sort of 'tax' to Israel country regardless their nationality. And many famous food franchises own by Jews offer tasty meals but the quality are only upto animal food standards, and many are really bad to health. Its like, no one ever before come out with that recipe because it will be harmful to health but they sell it. Not mentioning about their famous cigarettes and largest nuclear weapon industries also, conspiracies. I mentioned more about Israel and I don't think many Jews in foreign countries are that controversial. They are just normal like others. Somehow people 'hate' are just cautious, to avoid recurring history

Why some single out jews is probably a matter of a few and the propaganda they produce that infuences the more stupid and uneducated classes throughout the world. One of the biggest reasons for antisemitism is the concept of judaism being not just a religion, but a nation (and I don't mean israel - from before then even).
This will automatically put them in conflict with other nationalist ideologies (and Jews as a nation is a nationalist ideology).

Ultimatly its the "people are suspicious of those who are different" thing, but in the case of jews the deliberate resistance to assimulation by some jewish communities (and in contrast to others) has lead to opposition to judaism as a whole by people who are prone to generalise in that way.

Until the 1950s, anti-jewish diatribes were a result of christianity, the "jews killed christ!" myth.

Since then, however, dislike of the jews is a result of Israel's own actions, its terrorist attacks on neighboring states and general lawlessness in the world community.

In the past, the jews were unjust victims; now, they've brought it on themselves.
