OxyContin Addiction

Patients that do not necessarily develop an OxyContin addiction should still expect to suffer intense withdrawal because OxyContin is similar to getting off heroin, a reason why many people have started to abuse OxyContin for.

It's a strong possibility. You may get irritated. You might have serious with drawls. It kind of depends on your body. For short term use I've personally never had a problem. Since I am allergic to so many things it left little options. So I took opioid pain killers on a long term basis. That did cause some problems. In your pamphlet from the pharmacy it will mention some of the side effects (of when you stop taking the drugs). Call your doctor if you feel any of the sever side effects. For the minor annoyances.. you might want to take a bath or maybe take some OTC pm medications. That might help you sleep.

I took Oxycodone (same drug) for throat surgery pain for 5 days, and it was not too bad to come off of. But that may have been because I do not get along with the opiates to begin with (they give me interrupted sleep and nightmares).

Suddenly coming off of moderate, short-term use of Percocet will cause moderate but (for most) tolerable withdrawal symptoms, mainly insomnia and anxiety. Percocet is almost as potent as morphine, so expect a couple of nights of only sleeping a couple of hours and some jitters as well.

(I didn't have those since withdrawing from Oxycodone actually caused my deep sleep to rebound!! But I personally am a freak so don't bother with me. =D)

If you are uncomfortable with suddenly stopping ("cold turkey"), the ideal way to stop Percocet, as with any drug, is to slowly taper off, decreasing the dose every so often until you reach zero. For short-term surgery pain relief, I would recommend (personal recommendation this is; I'm not a doctor!!) tapering to 1/2 dose for a day, 1/4 dose for 2 days, and then zero.

"Dose" being the total daily amount, of course. You may want to invest in a pill cutter.

loose stools, irritability, and general uncomfotability.. @ daily doses below 40-60mg oxycodone/day...(8-12 percocet/day)
not too bad.. youll just complain alot about stuff, and poop on urself. lol dont last long.
in order to get it really bad you would have to be taking enough percocet to kill your liver on the tylenol. (its toxic past 8 per day, which is 4 grams tylenol)

i did this years ago coming off 200mg morphine a day(same as about 14-16 percocet).. and i just pissed out my *** and complained constantly like a little girl(im a guy lol) ... it tapered off fast after 4 days...

the hardest part is not taking more.. u can do it though

if ur only on like 4-6 per day... then its noooo big deal at all... u MIGHT feel a little annoyed for a day, but no big deal at all.
