It was Automobile Magazines pick for used car thats fun (SRT4). A Chevy Cobalt, Pontiac Vibe (essentially a rebadged Toyota Matrix that looks good), Honda Fit and Dodge Caliber are also good fuel-sipping, fun compacts. If you trade in an SUV you can probably get any one of those used with the money.

I am a Dodge dealer and will tell you the following:
The Neon is a decent car. It is not in the category of some of the imports, but they are reliable (the more recent ones.) The are good on gas. They have good ratings if God forbid they are in an accident. Like all cars, they require regular maintenance. Many people will buy a car like a Neon, then not maintain it, and when problems occur, they blame the car, not the fact that they do not maintain them. GM and Ford all have as many problems as Chrysler. Depending on how much you want to spend, a really good car for the money is the Nissan Altima. It is roomy, gets very good gas mileage and is reliable. You can get good deals on 2006 leftovers right now. Chrysler also has great financing deals, but since the Neon was discontinued, it would not apply to them. You may want to look at the Caliber. It is a totally new vehicle in every respect. It has the New World Engine and the CVT transmission. Right now it is a buyers market as the whole auto industry is in a down turn, even Toyota is offering zero percent financing on some of their cars. Shop wisely!

I can tell you all about them. I drive one. I like it. It gets anywhere from 25-30 miles per gallon, sometimes more. It is very reliable. I have almost 90,000 miles on mine. The only problem has been the A/C, which leaks refrigerant, but that is because after a wreck, the body shop screwed it up when they worked on the car. They don't make Neons any more, but you can get a late model one. Some people don't have the best luck with them, but it's like that with any car. There are zillions of them out there, so getting parts or finding a good car are easy.

To tell you the truth, they got rid of the neon and replaced it with the Dodge Caliber. The Caliber is actually a crossover from the original Neon. I actually got to sit in one at the car show a couple of weeks ago and they are very nice. And since Daimler was bought out by Mercedes, the engine is supposed to last a very long time. The new caliber even has a small refrigerator in the glovebox.

Do not go for a Neon. Keep the SUV or get a Nissan Sentra, Altima, Maxima or Honda Civic, Fit or Toyota Yaris, Camry but not a Neon.

It's pretty reliable and survives an accident pretty well. It's also a gas sipper.
I don't know how important audio is to you, but the stereo and speakers are pretty low end.
This may be the perfect car to get for a teenager: safe, good on gas, not a fast car, and a stereo that you can't crank and bother the neighbors.

Garbage! My uncle bought one in Taiwan, they said it's the worst car they ever owned! It already fell apart on its own. Amazing!
If you want a small car, get a Civic or Corolla. You get what you paid for! Plus way better gas mileage than a Neon.
Their average is over 30MPG. The new Civic EX gets 32 on road and nearly 40 on highway!

reproduction all your vehicle's id info from the plate on the door positioned up + any outdoors signage. Does it have a spoiler? i've got self assurance that makes it an R/T. besides, take that to a sparkling vehicle broking & ask them even nonetheless you probably won't get your physique areas from them. good success . . .
